TigerGraph Launches Million-Dollar Challenge to Inspire Innovative Uses of Graph

Company Tests Global Community of Innovators; Awards $1M in Prizes to Solve Real World Problems with Graph Technology

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TigerGraph, provider of a leading graph analytics platform, today launched “Graph for All Million Dollar Challenge,” a global search for innovative ways to harness the power of graph technology and machine learning to solve real world problems. The challenge brings together brilliant minds to build innovative solutions to better our future with one question: How will you change the world with graph? Winners across four main categories will be announced this May at the 2022 Graph + AI Summit, the largest open industry event for graph and AI organized by TigerGraph.

“Every day, more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are produced — that’s 18 zeroes,” said Dr. Yu Xu, founder and CEO of TigerGraph. “Within this data are answers to critical health, climate, and business-related questions, and graph technology identifies those patterns across and within the data to find the answers. We’re giving one million dollars to innovators who push the boundaries of graph and AI technology to uncover new, transformational ways to solve real world issues. The challenge is officially on and we look forward to seeing thousands of registrants, hundreds of mind-blowing entries, and countless new ideas and concepts.”

Now considered a must-have technology for modern enterprises, graph is making a difference for companies under tremendous pressures brought on by the pandemic. Over the past 18 months alone, TigerGraph’s technology empowered medical providers to make real-time care recommendations to millions of patients, fueled countless COVID-tracking initiatives, and helped businesses save hundreds of millions of dollars by improving their supply chain decisions.

“TigerGraph’s challenge is structured to stretch the imagination of graph enthusiasts and test its limits,” said Usha Rengaraju, Graph for All Million Dollar Challenge Judge. “I’m excited to see teams coming together to create graph solutions that can impact society or shape the future for companies. There is so much data available in the world waiting to reveal patterns and relationships that will solve important global problems.”

Solving Real Problems

Brig (R) Dr. Muhammad Khan, Professor of Department of Politics and IR delivered a key note speech on the topic, while Dr. Tauqeer Hussain Sargana, Students Advisor (Male), Officials from Directorate of Students Affairs and large number of students from Politics and IR Department participated in the seminar.

Addressing the students, Dr. Muhammad Khan precisely shared history of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Dr. Khan said that each year, Government and people of Pakistan celebrate 5th February as a solidarity day to show solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen the cause of Kashmir. He added that the primary focus of this solidarity is the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), who have undergone massive human rights violations at the hands of Indian security forces.

He said Kashmir Solidarity Day was celebrated in a changed environment where Kashmiris of IIOJK are still under detention and siege after India unilaterally and illegally changed its status on 05 August 2019. He told that this is yet another criminal act of the Indian Government, a violation of the UN Charter, UN resolutions and a serious violation of the Humanitarian Declaration-1948.

Dr. Khan urged the young generation to be awakes for the cause of Kashmiri people by using the weapon of social media highlighting brutalities of India security forces in the region at different platforms so the world can recognize the ugly face of nasty democracy of India where they are trying to undermine the voices of innocent Kashmiri people in the terrain since decades.

Dr. Tauqeer Hussain Sargana, Students Advisor (Male) who is also Assistant Professor, Department of Politics and IR, IIUI shared the eras of various war fares among students across the globe and highlighted the fifth generation war fare in which he briefed participants that how nations are being destroyed through hybrid war during the fifth generation war fare.

Dr. Sargana expressed the quote of Quaid-I-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for Kashmir people “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and no nation can allow its jugular vein to be held by the enemy”. At the end of seminar students asked various questions from the key note speakers of the seminar. The 2nd day’s activities of the Kashmir Solidarity Week ended with revived passion for Kashmir cause and slogans of “Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan”, Inshallah.

History of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup

Dubai, February 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):This is the first of a series of build-up articles being provided by the ICC for free editorial use ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. The ICC will provide extensive content for print and digital media in the coming days in its Online Media Zone; details are available in the Media Advisories section.

The inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup marked the first time a tournament of its nature was held, with the men’s tournament following two years later.

Its conception is a story in itself, with talks taking place between English businessman Jack Hayward and cricketer Rachael Heyhoe Flint in their home city, Wolverhampton.

In 1971, Hayward and Heyhoe Flint stayed up all evening brainstorming a tournament that the latter would skipper England to victory two years later.

The Women’s Cricket World Cup 1973 was contested by seven teams including a Young England side. The format was different to what we see today, with teams battling for 60 overs – not 50 – and a league table deciding the winners instead of a knock-out competition.

However, the final round-robin match saw the top two square off as England took on Australia in a repeat of the first-ever international women’s game.

Enid Bakewell hit 118 and Heyhoe Flint compiled a half-century as England won by 92 runs to seal the title by three points from their rivals.

India hosted and made their debut in the 1978 tournament, and they were joined by Australia, England and New Zealand.

The final match was again a de facto final, but this time Australia triumphed over the holders as tens of thousands of Indian cricket fans flocked to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad to watch.

1982 saw the introduction of a final, as New Zealand hosted five teams, the four from 1978 plus an International XI. Each side played the others three times, with the top two advancing to the showpiece.

It was a familiar match in the final as an unbeaten Australia took on England and the contest went down to the penultimate over before Australia emerged victorious by three wickets.

They defended their trophy in 1988, again beating England in the final, but then failed to reach the 1993 final – the first time they missed out.

The tournament returned to England that year and Denmark and the West Indies made their bow in an eight-team championship, following Ireland and the Netherlands’ debut in 1988.

Jan Brittin’s 48 was the top score in the final as England earned their second World Cup title by defeating the previously unbeaten New Zealand at Lord’s.

Australia were back on their perch in 1997 as a record 11 teams featured and Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa joined for the first time.

The teams were split into two groups and four from each progressed to the quarter-finals, with Australia and New Zealand marching all the way through the showpiece again.

Australia won the match by seven wickets but New Zealand returned to win the title on home soil in 2000, beating Australia by just four runs in the year the tournament moved to 50 overs a side.

2005 was a landmark year, South Africa had the honour of hosting for the first time in 2005 and India reached their first final but Australia were again too strong, as Karen Rolton’s unbeaten 107 steered them to a 98-run win.

The next three editions saw Australia and England trade the trophy, first England defeated Australia in 2009 before Australia again beat a first-time finalist in 2013, this time in the shape of the West Indies.

In 2017, England were back on home soil and triumphed once again, beating India in a dramatic conclusion at Lord’s to ensure they head to New Zealand as holders.

Seven teams will hope to depose them this time, including Bangladesh, who will make their debut. Each side will play each other once to determine qualification to the semi-finals, with the final scheduled for 3 April.

Sultans firm favourites to retain title as HBL PSL 7 moves to Lahore

Lahore, February 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):After an enthralling 15-match Karachi-leg, the HBL Pakistan Super League 7 moves to Lahore. The last 19 matches of the season will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium as PCB’s marquee event returns to the headquarters of Pakistan cricket after a two-year gap.

All six teams remain in contention of securing the top-four play-off slots. The 2020 champions Karachi Kings who lost all their five matches at their home ground (National Stadium, Karachi) are still in the hunt and can still claw their way back into the competition if they undergo a change of fortunes in Lahore.

At the end of the Karachi-leg, Multan Sultans, the defending champions led by Mohammad Rizwan, are sitting pretty at the top of the points table with 10 points courtesy of their unbeaten run in Karachi (five matches, five wins).

The 2016 and 2018 champions Islamabad United led by their in-form captain Shadab Khan occupy the second spot with six points (five matches, three wins, two defeats). Lahore Qalandars, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi also have the same points tally (five matches, three wins, two defeats) but their inferior run-rate compared to United has put them in the third spot.

The 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed are number four (five matches, two wins, three defeats) with four points. Wahab Riaz-led Peshawar Zalmi who won the title in 2017 occupy the fifth spot (five matches, two wins, three defeats) with as many points as the Gladiators but an inferior net run-rate.

The Babar Azam-led 2020 champions Karachi Kings have had to endure a barren run in Karachi (five matches, five defeats) and are yet to register a point. They are languishing at the bottom of the points table – sixth spot.

Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman meanwhile is presently at the top of the run-getters list with 356 runs at 71.20 and a strike-rate of 173.65.

Shadab who has been in red-hot form with both bat and ball, leads the bowlers list with 14 wickets from five games at 8.57 (economy rate 6.00).

All six captains are looking forward to the Lahore-leg with the battle set to intensify for the prestigious HBL PSL trophy.

Islamabad United – Shadab Khan: “I am really pleased with our performance in Karachi and despite a narrow loss to Lahore Qalandars, being top two on the points table at the half-way stage is impressive. The team has played the brand of cricket that we are known for and have shown full commitment which as a captain is all I ask for.

“I am also happy with my own performances and contributing to the team’s success, and want to continue to lead my team from the front. We are fully focused on not only qualifying for the play-offs but on regaining the trophy that we last won in 2018. The United squad is full of talent and the players in our squad are willing to give it their all for the team.

“The Lahore-leg promises to be even more exciting with maximum attendance expected at the Gaddafi Stadium for the business end of the tournament and I am sure that the fans in Lahore will be as entertained as the Karachi fans were with some world-class performers from all six sides on show.”

Karachi Kings – Babar Azam: “It has been a really tough start for us and we are left with no option but to win all our remaining five matches.

“I am confident that the whole team will be upbeat and ready to make a turnaround when we take on Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday in our opening match of the Lahore-leg.”

Lahore Qalandars – Shaheen Shah Afridi: “We played some outstanding cricket in Karachi in what was a very competitive start to the HBL PSL 7. At present, number three on the points table is not a bad position to be in as it keeps us in the hunt of a top-two finish and a potential advantage in the play-offs.

“As a captain, I am pleased with the efforts the Qalandars have put in so far. Fakhar Zaman has been batting exceptionally well for us at the top of the innings and his consistency has been a major help to the side.

“We have a quality bowling attack and I am confident that our bowling will win us matches in Lahore. The second-half of the tournament is at our home turf and I am sure we will receive impassioned support, backing and following at the Gaddafi Stadium, especially with a 100 per cent crowd towards the backend of the tournament. I would urge the Lahore fans to get ready for some world class entertainment and make their way to the GSL for the support of not only the Qalandars but the HBL PSL.”

Multan Sultans – Mohammad Rizwan: “I am really proud of my players and support staff who have succeeded in sustaining the momentum that we gained in Abu Dhabi last season. As title defenders I really could not have asked for anything more from my team and they have been simply outstanding as reflected with our unbeaten record in the Karachi-leg.

“I have simply asked my players to keep doing what they did in Karachi and avoid any complacent thoughts as we know that all our opponents have enough firepower in their ranks to catch us off guard any day of the tournament.

“We are very excited to play the Multan Sultans’ brand of cricket in Lahore and entertain the fans there who would be seeing HBL PSL action at their own venue for the first time in nearly two years.”

Peshawar Zalmi – Wahab Riaz: “The Karachi-leg didn’t go out as planned and we were not able to play to the best of our abilities. However, Peshawar Zalmi has always fought its way through in the HBL PSL and as always we have enough depth, class and experience in our squad for a turnaround in the Lahore-leg.

“Our first aim in Lahore would be to register victories and ensure qualification in the play-offs. As we proved last year, once we are in the play-offs we become as dangerous and capable a side as any. Zalmi has a history of appearing in the HBL PSL finals regularly and this year we are as determined as ever to find a place in the final and repeat our 2017 success which we achieved at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Quetta Gladiators – Sarfaraz Ahmed: “Our sensational victory against Lahore Qalandars has given us renewed hope and we are determined to carry on in the same vein in Lahore. Jason Roy made a memorable contribution for us and his presence at the top of the order has given us great firepower that I am sure will come in handy for us in Lahore.

“We are really looking forward to the Lahore-leg and I am sure the cricket fans in Lahore are super excited to see us and the other teams in action from Thursday.

“The Gladiators are known for fighting hard and despite some poor performances in the previous edition and the Karachi-leg, I firmly believe that we have the team strength and some incredibly skilled and experienced cricketers who can take us to the play-offs and beyond this season.

“I am sure that the Gladiators would have a big fan following in Lahore and would support quality cricket from all six teams. I also want to thank Karachi fans who came out in big numbers despite the covid related challenges and created a wonderful atmosphere at the National Stadium especially during our chase against Qalandars on Monday.”
