We are allies of the government, it is our duty to give suggestions for the solution of public problems: Ch Parvez Elahi

Lahore, February 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of MQM led by Deputy Convener Amir Khan, former Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar and Sadiq Iftikhar called on PML President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Acting Governor Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at their residence. Federal Ministers Tariq Bashir Cheema, Moonis Elahi, MNA Salik Hussain, Shafay Hussain, Rana Khalid and Abid Gujjar were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest including the political situation in the country were discussed in detail and it was agreed to move ahead with mutual consultation especially on local body elections and other important issues. The delegation also inquired about the well-being of Ch Shujat Hussain.

Later talking to media, Amir Khan said that we have come to seek the welfare of Ch Shujat Hussain, he is a senior and experienced politician of the country, political parties have their own ideas and their own decisions, we are also part of the government, whatever decision is taken will be made after consultation with all the allied parties.

Acting Governor Punjab Ch Parvez Elahi said that we are allies of the government and want the government to complete its term so we keep giving advice to the government to get the people out of problems, as an ally, it is our duty to make suggestions for the solution of public problems. In response to a question, he said that we are with Imran Khan, Asif Zardari had come yesterday to inquired after Ch Shujat Hussain.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that the inclusion of opposition in the legislation of local government system is welcome. In response to another question, he said that the question of no-confidence should be put before the opposition parties, we are in the government. On a question Tariq Bashir Cheema said that there is no question of stopping me to meet Imran Khan when he visited Bahawalpur, when I did not go there. I had my corona tested the same day and was waiting a report and I informed the Prime Minister’s Military Secretary.

Punjab University online admission schedule

Lahore, February 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University has announced the results of Associate Degree in Arts / Science Part-I, II, supplementary examination, 2020 and annual examination, 2021, Associate Degree in Commerce Part-I, II and BA (Hearing Impaired) supplementary examination 2021.

According to notification, the last date of online form submission for Associate Degree in Commerce Part-I, II second annual examination 2021, Associate Degree in Arts/Science Part-I, II and BA (Hearing Impaired) supplementary examination 2021 is February 15, 2022. The above said examinations will be held in the third week of March 2022.

Punjab University organizes seminars on Kashmir 

Lahore, February 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Department History and Pakistan Studies and Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) and have organized seminars with reference to Kashmir Solidarity Day. At Department of History and Pakistan Studies, Chairman Department of History and Pakistan Studies Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain, Chairman Department of Kashmir Studies Prof Dr Khwaja Zahid Aziz, President Ibn-e-Khaldoon Society Prof Yasir, faculty members and students were present.

In his address, Dr Khwaja Zahid Aziz told about the disputes being raised in and for Kashmir, that how the rights of Kashmiris are being deprived and what the Pakistanis should do in order to resolve them. He guided that the UNO and international community must play their role to resolve the Kashmir problem and the issuance of Indian domicile must be cancelled over there. He said that the students must be active on their social media accounts regarding this issue of Kashmir. Moreover, Dr Mahboob Hussain gave closing remarks by concluding the ceremony. A Kashmiri folk song was also sang in the event.

At CSAS Mr. Abdullah Malik, a human rights activist was the guest speaker. Mr. Abdullah Malik discussed illegal occupation of Indian armed forces and their violations of human rights such as genocide mass killings, and disappearance of men folk. The guest speaker also mentioned the human rights violations regarding women in Kashmir. He said that they are directly victimized by the Indian armed forces using repressive strategies against them such as rape, sexual and physical violence. The guest speaker stated the solution of Kashmir problem lies in dialogue process among all stakeholders.

The Wolf Talks at Punjab University

Lahore, February 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Institute of English Studies (IES) in collaboration with the Human Rights Chair and Association of Media and Communication Academic Professionals (AMCAP) organized an art-based digital display titled “The Wolf Talks”, curated by Dr Nico Carpentier. Dean faculty of Arts and Humanities and Director IES Prof Dr Amra Raza, Chairperson Human Rights Chair Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, lecturer at IES Ayesha Akram and Maryam Raza, faculty members and students attended the event. The project was aimed at voicing the agency of the silenced ‘Wolf’ by dint of artistic expression.

After a warm welcome by the Prof. Dr. Amra Raza, Dr Carpentier shared snippets from his extensive body of work on “Art-Based Research in Media and Communication”. His work advocates re-thinking academia and research beyond the written text and using alternative mediums of creative manifestation to communicate academic knowledge. Dr Carpentier’s digitalized project installation at IES was also a continuation of the same ideology, where the muted voice of Wolves found visage through the scan-able QR codes, and presented stimulating questions to viewers.

ICI Recruitment Drive for LUMS Students 

Lahore, February 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Career Services Office organised a virtual recruitment drive with ICI Pakistan on February 2, 2022, for the undergraduate and graduate students of Class 2022. The session was commenced by Murtaza Makki, Head of Talent Acquisition, Culture, and HR Manager – Animal Health Business at ICI Pakistan Limited. ICI Pakistan currently has 1600 + employees and operates in six different business fields.

Mr. Murtaza shared ICI Pakistan’s vision for sustainable growth in Pakistan. He said that the organisation has a customer-centric approach and they prioritise their customers and have a strong focus on integrity. He shared the history of ICI Pakistan Limited and how it was acquired by YBG in 2012 and expanded into different areas since then.

Saad Arshad, Graduate Recruit at ICI 2021 shared the details of the six businesses that they are operating in i.e. Pharmaceuticals, Polyester, Soda Ash, Chemical and Agri sciences, Animal Health, and Nutrico Morinaga. He also said that ICI is looking for future talent for its commercial, technical and support streams.

Mr. Arshad later explained the four steps of the recruitment process which included filling a digital form, playing the recruitment game, the interview process and solving the case study. Later, Mahnoor Babar, HR Trainee at ICI, talked about the diverse work culture. She also shared the CSR activities ICI Pakistan is doing in collaboration with the Care Foundation to support the education and health care infrastructure to facilitate underprivileged people. The session ended with an interactive question and answer session.
