Former cricketers encouraged to apply for coaching roles

Lahore, August 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):In a bid to continue to create opportunities for the former cricketers to share their experience with domestic and upcoming cricketers, the Pakistan Cricket Board invited applications for coaching roles. The job advertisement is available here.

The roles are for the High Performance system and the domestic structure, which has seen an increase in the number of sides with the introduction of additional teams – two each for a Cricket Association – at the U19 and U16 levels for the upcoming 2021-22 domestic season.

These opportunities arise after the PCB employed numerous former cricketers (international and domestic) to coach the Cricket Association and City Cricket Association sides.

The interested candidates must have Level-II coaching qualification or higher and those who have played Test/international/first-class cricketers would be preferred.

Former cricketers who have significant playing and/or coaching experience encouraged to apply.

Those who qualify for the roles will be expected to, along with other requirements, plan game strategies, create winning environments and develop atmospheres in which individual players are able to perform to their maximum potential.

Government College University to hold entrance tests from 28th August

Lahore, August 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Government College University Lahore has announced the schedule of its entrance tests for undergraduate admissions in 27 disciplines, clarifying that it wouldn’t be able to adopt the Higher Education Commission’s Undergraduate Studies Aptitude Test (USAT) for admissions this year.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi said that GCU’s entrance tests for undergraduate admissions would take place in small groups from August 28 to September 1, 2021, to ensure strict implementation of SOPs for prevention against COVID19. He said specific date for the test of each department would be posted on the University’s website.

However, Prof. Zaidi said, the entrance test is exempted for the students securing admissions on the reserved seats of sports and co-curricular activities, and also for the students securing admissions on reserved seats for the disabled. Prof. Zaidi said the interviews of those qualifying from the entrance test would be held from September 13 to 15, 2021.

The GCU Societies Board also announced the schedule of trials for undergraduate admissions based on co-curricular activities. The three-day trials would commence from August 24, 2021. The Vice-Chancellor said the last date to apply for undergraduate admission would remain August 23, and no further extension would be granted. He said that for the first time, the GCU admission process has been completely digitalised as printing and submission of hard copies of admissions forms and academic documents are not required. He said all admission forms are accepted online through www.gcuonline.pk.

Prof. Zaidi also said GCU has also eliminated discrimination between regular and self-supporting students, as all self-supporting students would also be eligible for the scholarships, hostel accommodation and transport services. “Students of both sessions would receive equal treatment in the faculty allocations and other services,” Prof. Zaidi concluded.
