Basic Information

Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls Scheme -Bachelor’s levels funds a maximum four-year bachelor’s degree for Pakistani women in any HEC recognized public university across Pakistan. Funded by the Scottish Government, these grants aim to make higher education more accessible to women, supporting them in achieving their potential and ambition.

The Award

Scotland Pakistan Scholarship – Bachelor’s Level will facilitate award-holders with the following:

Tuition fees for undergraduate courses in eligible fields

University hostel costs (where applicable)

Travel to and from home to university two times a year for students staying in on-campus hostels

Subject Areas

The scholarship will cover a four-year bachelor’s degree at an HEC-recognized Pakistani public university in one of the following subject areas only:

Education

Sustainable Energy

Food Security and Agriculture

Health Sciences

Eligibility Criteria

These scholarships are open to female applicants only.

In addition, applicants must:

Be a Pakistani national, currently residing in Pakistan

Be pursuing a four-year degree in the above listed subject areas

Hold a confirmed admission offer from an HEC recognized public university in Pakistan

Young women with disabilities, from rural areas and/or minority groups are encouraged to apply.

UET Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Schlumberger Seaco INC

Lahore, August 13, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schlumberger Seaco INC. (Pakistan Branch) and Dowell Schlumberger (Western) S.A. for student placements, professional skills development courses and health, safety, and environmental awareness campaigns. Schlumberger will facilitate the students of UET in enhancing their professional skills with industrial placements and workshops.

Both parties will make efforts to minimize the industry-academia gap by enhancing industrial trainings, market/industry needs analysis and ensuring effective communication. Awareness sessions for health, safety and environment will be conducted at the university for students, professional and general public. Schlumberger will be facilitating UET students by holding technical presentations at the university, donating software for student practices, and graduate and summer internships. Where possible, UET students and faculty will also work on some of the R and D problems at Schlumberger.

Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Vice Chancellor, UET and Mr. Zaurayze Tarique, Managing Director Schlumberger, Pakistan and Yemen signed the document on behalf of respective organization. Speaking on the occasion, both dignitaries agreed that there is a strong need of Industry-Acadmia linkage and professional skills development for progression of in this techno-economic era. Prof. Dr. Naveed, Ramzan, Prof. Dr. Zubair Abu Bakar, Prof. Dr. Khurram Zahoor and Prof. Dr. Saima Yasin, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq and Mr. Shahzad were present in the ceremony. Prof. Saima praised the Schlumberger for supporting Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) from developing countries through its non-profit organization.

Internship presentations session conducted at SOAD by Textile Design students

Faisalabad, August 13, 2021 (PPI-OT):Internship is very important during the study to get a first-hand experience and true understanding of all mechanics and industrial processes as well as to seek a career path. Internship presentations of students of Bachelors of Textile Design Were held in two sessions on 6th and 7th August 2021. Students shared their internship presentations with the juniors, fellows, and faculty of SOAD. Industrial feedback was also shared during the session.

Many students positively shared the designs which were selected for printing or sampling during their internship. By the grace of Allah, the students were found confident and competent to apply and exercise their knowledge and understanding in real industrial practices. A very fruitful Q and A session was conducted at the end of both sessions.

T20 World Cup-bound England to play in Rawalpindi

Lahore, August 13, 2021 (PPI-OT):The England men’s side that will feature in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will visit Pakistan in October for two Twenty20 Internationals. Both matches will be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on 13 and 14 October.

Eoin Morgan’s side, along with Heather Knight’s team, will arrive in Islamabad on 9 October and while the men’s squad will depart for Dubai on 15 October, England women will stay back for the three ODIs to be played on 17, 19 and 21 October at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “We are delighted to welcome both the England men’s team for what will be their first tour to Pakistan since 2005, and the England women’s team, who will be touring Pakistan for the first time. Both are additional tours with England men’s side scheduled to return to Pakistan in the last quarter of 2022 for white-ball and ICC World Test Championship fixtures.”

Both Morgan and Knight’s sides are 50-over world champions. England men are ranked No.1 in ICC T20I Team Rankings and England women are second – just five points behind ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winners Australia.

The matches were earlier scheduled to take place at the National Stadium, Karachi, on 14 and 15 October, but have been rescheduled due to operational and logistical reasons.
