Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore marked Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with a series of events at its City Campus on Friday. The celebrations included flag-hoisting ceremonies, Quran Khawani, prayers for the martyrs of Pakistan, and a cake-cutting ceremony across all UVAS campuses.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the day commenced with Quran Khawani and special prayers held in the university mosque, dedicated to the martyrs and for the prosperity of both the country and the university. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Masood Rabbani, along with other senior faculty members, participated in the national flag hoisting. The ceremony saw attendance from faculty members, students, administrative staff, and their families.

Prof Dr. Masood Rabbani addressed the attendees, extending congratulations to the university community on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. He acknowledged the efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in achieving an independent nation for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent. Dr. Rabbani emphasized the sacrifices made by ancestors and the responsibility that comes with freedom, urging everyone to fulfill their duties with dedication and honesty. He highlighted the importance of enhancing UVAS's academic standards to contribute to Pakistan's development and called for gratitude and patience amidst challenges.

Similar events were conducted at other UVAS campuses, including Ravi Campus Pattoki, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang, Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal, and Para-Veterinary Institute Karor Lal-Eason Layyah.
