Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), in partnership with Google Tech Valley, hosted a Google Career Certificate Roadshow at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium to educate students about digital skills, professional certifications, and career opportunities in the global tech economy. The event aimed to prepare students for the demands of a technology-driven job market.
According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai urged students to engage actively in the program, emphasizing the need to acquire practical, technology-based skills alongside academic degrees. Dr. Sahrai highlighted the university's achievement of completing 500 certificate slots and expressed optimism about utilizing newly allocated opportunities by the year's end.
Technical expert Dr. Shahzeb Malik addressed the evolving digital landscape and the Government of Sindh's initiatives for digital transformation, such as the Sindh Job Portal. He emphasized the inclusiveness of the Google Career Certificate Programme, which offers courses in various fields including cybersecurity, data analytics, and digital marketing. Dr. Malik noted that 19,200 sponsorships had been allocated across public-sector universities for 14 specializations and 82 courses, encouraging students to enhance their employability through these certifications.
The event was attended by university officials, faculty members, students, and representatives from collaborating organizations. Mr. Basit Hassan, a faculty member of SMIU's Department of Computer Science, served as the focal person. Souvenir shields were presented to distinguished guests in appreciation of their contributions to the program.
