Punjab University Hosts Workshop on Green Productivity and Sustainability

LAHORE: Punjab University Institute of Polymer and Textile Engineering, in collaboration with the National Productivity Organization, organized a workshop aimed at enhancing awareness and capacity building among small and medium enterprises in the textile and auto sectors. The workshop, themed "Awareness & Capacity Building Support to SMEs in Textile & Auto Sector on Just Transition, Climate Change, Green Productivity & Resource Efficiency," gathered key figures including PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saleem, CEO NPO Alamgir Chaudhry, and Director IPTE Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan, alongside faculty members, researchers, and students.

According to University of the Punjab, the event underscored the critical importance of sustainability and green productivity within the polymer and textile industries. Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saleem, in his address, highlighted the necessity for applied research and practical measures to combat climate change and promote resource efficiency. He called for a collaborative effort among universities, industries, and policymakers to foster a just transition towards a sustainable economy. Prof. Saleem emphasized the pivotal role of innovation, research, and capacity building in developing a more competitive, climate-resilient industrial sector. He commended the workshop's organizers for their dedication to strengthening academia-industry partnerships and translating research into actionable solutions, advocating for the continuation of such initiatives to support sustainable industrial development.
