SMIU Celebrates Independence Day with Flag Hoisting, Azadi Walk, and Library Inauguration

Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) marked Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with a series of activities led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai. The celebrations included the hoisting of the national flag, an Azadi Walk, and the inauguration of the renovated Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi Library.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, in his address, emphasized the significant role SMIU has played in the country's history, noting that many leaders of the independence movement, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, were educated there. He highlighted the university's responsibility as a custodian of the nation and paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam's leadership and philosophy of Unity, Faith, and Discipline.

Dr. Sahrai also addressed the economic contributions of Pakistanis abroad, urging citizens to commit to the nation's development. He praised the Sindh government's support for higher education and called for increased educational budget allocations across all levels. The event featured speeches by university deans, a report on Independence Day programs, and student performances. Certificates and trophies were awarded to students for their achievements in various events.
