Sindh Madressatul Islam University Hosts TechFest 3.0 Showcasing Student Innovations

Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) in collaboration with the Business Incubation Center (BIC), the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) SMIU, and the Faculty of Information Technology hosted TechFest 3.0, a major exhibition and evaluation event. The event provided a platform for students from various departments to present their capstone projects to a panel of industry experts for live evaluation.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the ceremony was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Jamshed Adil, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Business Administration and Commerce, Prof. Stephen John, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology. The event brought together students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences, the Department of Computer Science, and the Department of Software Engineering.

Participants from these departments set up project stalls to demonstrate working prototypes, AI models, software systems, and applied research. Projects spanned areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and software engineering practices. Industry professionals engaged with students, questioning design choices and evaluating projects based on innovation, technical rigor, and real-world applicability.

The exhibition highlighted SMIU's commitment to industry-aligned education, offering students direct feedback from professionals. Prof. Dr. Jamshed Adil congratulated the departments for the quality of projects, noting the university's focus on cross-disciplinary thinking. Prof. Stephen John praised the platform for building student confidence and communication skills. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan emphasized the technical depth and innovative capacity of the Faculty of IT, reaffirming the importance of industry linkages.

Mr. Shahid Ubaid, Manager of the Business Incubation Center, thanked participants and evaluators, acknowledging the role of industry partnerships in translating academic projects into market-ready innovations.
