Sialkot: The voter registration rate in Sialkot has reached 63% of its estimated 2025 population, significantly surpassing the national average of 54%. This notable figure highlights the district's robust participation in the electoral process.
According to Free and Fair Election Network, the statistics are derived from district-wise electoral roll information released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 30, 2025, and are cross-referenced with population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. The estimated population for Sialkot in 2025, calculated using a 2.44% annual growth rate from its census base population of 4,499,394, is 4,721,643. The voter registration rate is determined by dividing the number of registered voters, which stands at 3.0 million, by this estimated population.
Sialkot's registered voters comprise 1.6 million males, representing 53.2%, and 1.4 million females, accounting for 46.8%. Male voter registration reaches 66% of the estimated male population, while female registration stands at 60%. The district ranks 9th nationally both by population size and voter registration rate, and 6th within Punjab.
The higher registration rate compared to the national average is attributed to two rules of the 2023 Digital Census. Individuals absent from their household for more than six months were not counted at their home address, and those living elsewhere were recorded at their current address. This method, combined with significant labour migration to major urban centers, results in a smaller population denominator and a higher registration ratio.
Female voters make up 46.8% of the registered electorate in Sialkot, indicating a moderate gender gap of 6.3%. Continued efforts to promote equitable female registration are deemed essential despite the district's strong overall registration rate.
