Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari extended his congratulations to the Philippines on the occasion of its 128th Independence Day, acknowledging the resilience and courage of the nation. The message comes as Pakistan and the Philippines prepare to commemorate 77 years of diplomatic relations later this year, highlighting their longstanding partnership.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari emphasized the mutual respect and goodwill that underpin the relationship between the two countries. He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to multilateral cooperation in global forums such as the United Nations and ASEAN, and expressed a desire to advance the relationship with renewed purpose.
The president pointed to potential areas for expansion in the bilateral partnership, including agriculture, food security, healthcare, defense cooperation, education, information technology, and renewable energy. He noted that Pakistani exports, such as textiles and pharmaceuticals, complement the Philippines' strengths in electronics and agricultural industries.
Zardari also expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to the Pakistani community in the Philippines, highlighting their role in strengthening people-to-people ties. He reaffirmed Pakistan's dedication to addressing global challenges and wished for continued peace and prosperity for the Philippines.
