LAHORE: Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the People's Republic of China, the Parvez Hassan Centre for Chinese Legal Studies at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), held a significant gathering to highlight the enduring strength and evolution of Pakistan-China relations. Distinguished members from academia, the legal sector, business and industry, policymakers, and representatives of the Chinese community in Pakistan were present at the event.
According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the event emphasized the depth and resilience of Pakistan-China partnership, which has developed into a comprehensive relationship rooted in strategic cooperation, shared regional interests, and enduring people-to-people ties. Amidst significant global transitions, the gathering underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and highlighted the role of academic institutions in fostering informed dialogue, legal understanding, and cross-border collaboration.
The event was attended by the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Lahore, His Excellency Sun Yan, who reaffirmed the continued significance of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations and their expansion into academic, cultural, and institutional spheres. Scholarships supported by the Consulate General were awarded to students at the Law School, reflecting a shared commitment to education and capacity-building.
Consul General Sun Yan spoke about the evolving scope of Pakistan-China cooperation as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters its upgraded phase, emphasizing continued collaboration in economic growth, technological innovation, and regional connectivity.
