NAGOYA: The Grand Opening Ceremony of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 took place today at Paloma Mizuho Stadium, marking the beginning of a multi-sport event that will see participation from athletes representing 45 countries. The Games are scheduled to run from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
According to Pakistan Squash Federation, in a proud moment for Pakistan, squash player Noor Zaman carried the national flag as the Flag Bearer during the ceremony. The squash events are set to commence on September 23, 2026, at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.
On the opening day of the squash competitions, Pakistan will compete in five matches across individual men, women, and mixed doubles events. The Mixed Doubles Round of 32 will feature Muhammad Asim Khan and Mehwish Ali from Pakistan against Nepal's Arhant Simha and Bipana Bhlon at 11:00 AM JST. Muhammad Ashab Irfan will face Jason Karam from Lebanon in the Men's Singles Round of 32 at 2:00 PM JST.
In the Women's Singles Round of 32, Mahnoor Ali will compete against Singapore's Wai Yhann Au Yeong at 2:45 PM JST, followed by Noor Zaman's match against Van Aero Angelo Dalida from the Philippines at 3:30 PM JST. The day's schedule concludes with Sana Bahadur competing against Iran's Najmeh Boushehrizadeh at 4:15 PM JST.
