SARGODHA: Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, a notable figure in the field of mathematics, has taken on the role of Vice Chancellor at the University of Sargodha. He has commenced his duties with immediate effect, bringing a vast wealth of academic and research experience to the institution.
According to University of Sargodha, Dr. Hayat holds a PhD in Mathematics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and has completed his postdoctoral research at the Technical University Darmstadt in Germany. His extensive academic background is complemented by his roles as a Distinguished Professor and Secretary General of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences. Dr. Hayat's contributions to the field have been recognized with several civil awards, including the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.
Dr. Hayat's scholarly work includes 2,559 research publications, with 2,555 published internationally. His research has garnered over 70,000 citations on the Web of Science, and he boasts a Google Scholar h-index of 123. Among his publications, 131 are highly cited or hot papers, and 2,539 documents are indexed by Scopus. Dr. Hayat's career is further distinguished by receiving the Abdus Salam Prize in Mathematics, the Young Scientist of the South Award by TWAS, and the COMSTECH International Award in Mathematics. He holds fellowships with the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, TWAS, and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences, and was awarded the International OBADA Prize in 2021. He has also held visiting, adjunct, and distinguished professorships at several universities across China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and South Africa.
