LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore held a seminar in honor of Nobel Prize Day to discuss the groundbreaking discoveries recognized by the 2025 Nobel Prizes in physiology or medicine, chemistry, and physics. The event, held at the City Campus in Lahore, aimed to highlight contributions in these fields and their impact on science and society.
The seminar was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus, with notable figures such as Dr. Shakeel Khan and Mr. Fabrice Disdier, Director of the French Culture Center in Lahore, serving as Guests of Honor. The gathering was attended by faculty members, students, and experts, including Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Prof. Dr. Yasin Tipu, and others from various academic institutions.
During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Younus acknowledged the efforts of those who organized the event, emphasizing the importance of recognizing Nobel laureates’ contributions through their innovative research. He highlighted the role of UVAS-trained professionals in advancing the socio-economic development of the country by applying their skills and knowledge.
Dr. Shakeel Khan advised students to focus on time management and hard work as essential elements for achieving success in their careers. The seminar featured presentations from several resource persons, including Dr. Haroon Akbar, who discussed Simon Sakaguchi’s work on regulatory T cells in physiology and medicine. Dr. Qasim Raza presented on the 2025 Nobel Prize in chemistry, focusing on metal-organic frameworks, while Dr. Abdul Waheed Anwar addressed advancements in physics recognized by the Nobel committee.
