Islamabad: In a significant development coinciding with Saudi National Day celebrations, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted Rs. 150 million to the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to enhance its academic infrastructure. This funding represents a crucial step in the University's ongoing efforts, led by its President, to upgrade academic and student facilities and transform IIUI into a modern, technology-equipped institution.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the first phase of this initiative will focus on upgrading classrooms, computer laboratories, information technology systems, and related academic facilities. The Saudi grant aims to address the need for modern teaching spaces and technological infrastructure that meet the demands of contemporary pedagogy and research.
A major aspect of the project includes the creation of a smart classroom in each faculty, outfitted with interactive smart boards, digital podiums, and dedicated Wi-Fi, accommodating up to 30 students. Additionally, five computer laboratories will be established, offering 55 workstations and a total of 220 computer systems, including desktops, VDI systems, and laptops. These facilities will be enhanced with CCTV systems, furniture, curtains, and other necessary equipment.
The grant is anticipated to significantly improve the teaching and learning environment at IIUI by enhancing access to digital resources, laboratories, and technology-supported classrooms. The improvements are also expected to bolster the University's academic profile and appeal to prospective students.
This initiative is part of a broader enhancement drive by Acting Rector/President of IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, focusing on student welfare and the quality of University facilities. Through direct engagement with students and regular visits to academic areas and hostels, the President has prioritized addressing infrastructure needs.
As the phased renovation of student hostels progresses, the upgrading of classrooms and computer laboratories marks a significant advancement, reflecting the President's commitment to meaningful improvements for students. The Rs. 150 million grant from Saudi Arabia is a substantial milestone in these efforts and underscores the President's and his team's dedication to securing support for the University's development.
