Sargodha: The University of Sargodha (UoS) has announced major international advancements following the return of its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, from a significant visit to China. The visit saw UoS forging several strategic partnerships with Chinese institutions, enhancing its global presence and marking a new chapter in international collaborations.
During the trip, UoS signed agreements with prominent Chinese companies, including a Memorandum of Understanding with Tianjin Xinzhiou Tech Co. Ltd. This collaboration aims to boost technological innovation and applied research, alongside industry-driven training for both students and faculty.
In another key development, the university entered into a Letter of Intent with Tianjin Boling Education and Culture Investment Co. Ltd. This initiative will launch an international Seafarer Training Program, offering new maritime education and employment opportunities for Pakistani youth.
UoS also made history by signing an LoI with Hainan Leyin Investment Co. Ltd. to establish an international campus and hospital in Sanya, Hainan Province. This endeavor will make UoS the first Pakistani university to set up a foreign campus in China. During their visit, the delegation assessed the proposed site in Sanya for its infrastructure and development prospects.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas represented Pakistan at several key regional forums, including the Tianshan Forum for Central Asia Cooperation and the Ninth CAREC Think Tank Development Forum in Urumqi. These platforms provided opportunities for discussions on regional collaboration among policymakers and academics.
The UoS delegation was also present at the 3rd International Symposium on Pathogenic Microbial Infection Mechanisms and the 2025 Annual Academic Conference at Nankai University. High-level meetings during these events set the stage for a significant academic partnership.
In efforts to strengthen industry linkages, the delegation visited Tianjin Bio-innovation Synthetic Biotech Co. Ltd. and Zibo Huijie Machinery Co. Ltd. The latter agreed to establish a medical equipment manufacturing facility in Pakistan, further enhancing bilateral industrial cooperation.
Reflecting on these developments, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized that the partnerships secured will elevate UoS’s academic standing and expand research capabilities. These collaborations aim to create transformative opportunities for the youth of Pakistan, he concluded.
