Islamabad, In a heartwarming display of community service and mental health advocacy, students from the BS V-B Psychology Department at the University of Wah, under the guidance of Ms. Rahma Sohail, Lecturer of the Department of Psychology, dedicated their time and skills at the Edhi Foundation’s Orphanage House. The visit, centered around providing psychosocial support and skills development for the children, showcased the students’ commitment to enhancing the well-being and resilience of the younger residents through a series of therapeutic and educational activities.

According to University of Wah, the volunteer initiative involved the students in delivering a comprehensive program that included gross motor skill exercises, play therapy, art therapy, as well as lessons focused on anger management, emotional regulation, and understanding the concepts of negative and positive touch. This hands-on approach not only aimed to uplift the children emotionally and psychologically but also offered the university students invaluable practical experience in their field of study.

The children at the Edhi Orphanage, despite facing significant life challenges, demonstrated remarkable resilience and an eagerness to engage in the learning process, highlighting the impact of such volunteer efforts on vulnerable groups. The visit underscored the importance of empathy, social responsibility, and the positive effects of psychological support in nurturing hope and strengthening coping mechanisms among children in care settings.

This initiative by the University of Wah students and faculty illustrates the pivotal role educational institutions and their members can play in contributing to societal welfare and mental health promotion beyond the confines of the classroom.
