Turbat, In a concerted effort to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and sustainable practices, the Green Youth Movement Club (GYM) at the University of Turbat organized an awareness walk on campus to commemorate World Water Day on March 22, 2024. Themed “Water for Peace,” the event saw participation from faculty members and students across various departments, who carried placards and messages underscoring the critical need for responsible water use and improved sanitation measures.
According to University of Turbat, Mr. Jeand Baloch, the focal person for GYM, led the initiative, emphasizing the university’s dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. The day’s activities were designed not only to highlight the university’s commitment to this goal but also to foster a broader understanding of water as a vital resource that transcends mere utility, being a fundamental human right essential to every aspect of life.
Speakers during the event underscored the urgency of adopting sustainable water management practices, pointing out that water should not be viewed solely as a commodity to be used and competed over but rather as a pivotal element in the promotion of peace and unity.
