Jamshoro, The University of Sindh’s Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering held its eighth Board of Studies meeting, where significant revisions to the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023 and curriculum for BS Genetics and BS Biotechnology were approved. The meeting, chaired by the Institute’s Director, focused on updates to various academic programs and policies to align with current educational standards.
According to University of Sindh Jamshoro, the meeting was attended by prominent academic figures, including Institute Professor Dr. Syed Habib Ahmad Naqvi, Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Wariah from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, Dr. Ghulam Sughra Mungrio from Sindh Agricultural University, Tando Jam, and other notable faculty members. The Board of Studies approved a comprehensive revision of the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023, as well as the curricula of BS Genetics and BS Biotechnology programs.
The meeting also aligned with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, approving a semester admission plan for candidates with Science and Associate degrees as an alternative to the M.Sc. degree program. Furthermore, the board approved proposals for revising and modifying the MPhil Biotechnology, MPhil Genetics, PhD Biotechnology, and PhD Genetics programs. Another critical decision made during the meeting was the approval of a final list of local and international reviewers for the strict evaluation of PhD theses in an international context, ensuring high standards of academic rigor and research quality.
The revisions and updates in the university’s academic programs reflect its commitment to staying current with evolving educational needs and standards, particularly in the rapidly advancing fields of biotechnology and genetics.
