Lahore: Engineers from the University of Engineering and Technology have introduced DigiLawyer, a groundbreaking AI-powered legal platform, marking a significant advancement in Pakistan’s legal system. This innovative platform is designed to assist lawyers in preparing cases more efficiently, reducing court delays, and enhancing justice delivery.
DigiLawyer stands out by being tailored specifically for the Pakistani legal framework, offering a reliable and secure alternative to general AI tools that may overlook local jurisdictional nuances. The platform boasts a comprehensive legal database covering Pakistani statutes and judgments from 1947 to 2025, alongside AI tools like ARK AI, which provides accurate legal answers, and MIKE AI, which drafts legal documents in compliance with local practices.
The need for such a tool is underscored by the current inefficiencies within the legal profession. Lawyers in Pakistan reportedly spend over 30 hours weekly on outdated databases, which hampers case preparation and exacerbates judicial backlogs. DigiLawyer addresses these issues by automating routine tasks and facilitating quicker, more precise legal work.
Incorporating secure data practices and allowing lawyers to maintain control over the finalization of legal drafts, DigiLawyer is already being utilized by government bodies, the judiciary, and prominent law firms. This reflects a growing trust in UET’s innovation within the legal sector.
Developed by a collaborative team of engineers and legal experts from UET, including Danish Ghaffar, Muhammad Safee Ullah, and Barrister Ahmad Uzair, DigiLawyer merges technical proficiency with a deep understanding of legal processes. The platform is not only enhancing judicial efficiency but also empowering young legal professionals and fostering greater transparency in the justice system.
The creators of DigiLawyer are optimistic about its impact, suggesting a major shift in legal practice across Pakistan, and envisioning a future where every lawyer in the country could soon be a DigiLawyer.
