Lahore: A series of workshops aimed at enhancing the skills of domestic cricket coaches concluded in Muridke following sessions in Karachi and Peshawar. Organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as part of their strategic plan for coach education, the workshops were led by Shahid Aslam, the National Cricket Academy’s Head of Coach Education and Development, with assistance from Manager Coach Education Rahat Abbas.
More than 50 coaches attended the events held on 2, 4, and 7 October, targeting coaches of regional men’s U19 teams and those involved in the National Women’s U19 tournament. The workshops explored various topics, including strength and conditioning, the use of technology and data, and the transition from U19 to senior cricket.
In Karachi, the sessions at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre focused on women’s cricket, featuring head and assistant coaches of four Women’s U19 teams, including former internationals Nahida Khan and Jaweria Rauf.
The Peshawar workshop, held at Imran Khan Stadium, gathered coaches from numerous regions involved in the National U19 One-Day Cup. PCB High-Performance coach Abdul Rehman contributed to discussions on athletic culture and player development.
The final workshop took place at Country Club Muridke, where coaches from various U19 teams, along with Azhar Ali, PCB’s head of youth development, participated in comprehensive discussions. These workshops are part of a broader initiative aimed at upskilling coaches during the 2025-26 domestic cricket season.
