The UAE offered assistance when the rains had not yet stopped and no one had an idea of the damage caused: Chairman PPP and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its generous assistance to Pakistan’s flood victims and said that in this difficult time, our brothers from the UAE have supported Pakistan.

Addressing the ceremony organized on the occasion of the arrival of the aid consignment by the UAE by sea to Karachi and handing it over to the Government of Pakistan and later talking to the media, the Federal Foreign Minister said that the relief activities of the government of the United Arab Emirates are currently ongoing in the flood-affected areas of Balochistan and other areas. “The UAE had offered assistance when the rains had not yet stopped and no one had an idea of the damage caused,” said Chairman PPP.

He said that during the recent crisis, the UAE built an air bridge between Pakistan, and sent aid supplies from all over the world free of charge. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the cooperation of the UAE during the 2005 earthquake as well as the 2010 and 2011 floods and said that the people of Pakistan value the goodwill of their brotherly Islamic country. He further said that the UAE ambassador is the person who took the first step to help the flood victims, adding that at a time when some people had forgotten the flood victims, the government and people of UAE stood with Pakistan.

Chairman PPP said that even today a large number of victims are facing difficulties and problems in the flood affected areas. He said that after the ongoing survey to estimate the damage caused by the flood, the government will talk to international organizations and countries, Pakistan has friendly ties with, so that rehabilitation work can be started in the affected areas.

In response to a question asked by a journalist regarding FATF, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that since he took over the portfolio, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working diligently day and night to resolve the issue. He said that he is not a politician who believes in making unnecessary noise, rather he believes in hard work. He further said that it would be premature to say anything about the removal of Pakistan’s name from FATF’s grey list.

In response to another question, Chairman PPP said that there are many cases against Imran Khan with evidence. “Toshakhana is a very small case,” he said. “There is also a foreign funding case. Money has been taken from citizens of Israel and India. We hope for justice in other cases against Imran Khan.”

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that until yesterday, Imran Khan was selected and pampered, and no institution had the courage to give decisions against him. But things are different now and this is the beginning as there will be many more such decisions.

“My advice to Imran Khan is to retire from politics, sit in Bani Gala and enjoy the rest of his life,” said Chairman PPP. “Let the country and nation live.” Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also said that Imran Khan used to say that he would never join hands with thieves, but now he himself has been caught stealing from Toshakhana.

He further said that the time for talks is over. If a politician or a political party wants to talk, the Parliament is a forum they can turn to. The Foreign Minister appealed to everyone, including the media, not to divert their attention from the flood victims. Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hamad Obaid Alzaabi and other dentaries were also present.
