Visit to Pakistan Meteorological Department

Lahore, March 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Directorate of Media Publications organized an educational visit for students working at UW FM 101.8 Radio as “Program Host” to Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad, on 21 March 2023. PMD is a scientific and service division that works under the Cabinet Secretariat and is responsible for providing services in the areas of metrology, hydrology, earthquake seismology, and geomagnetism.

The purpose of the visit was to enlighten students about the operations of the National Weather Forecasting Center and help them to understand the real-life application and its importance. The students were given a briefing about the working of the center and their live studios. An interview was also recorded with Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Babar, Director, Pakistan Meteorological Department, by Ms. Sarah Khan, Director-DMP. The visit proved to be a useful and worthwhile experience for the students.

Training Session on “Open Journal System” 

Rawalpindi, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):The first Training Session on “Open Journal System (OJS)” was conducted on 20 February 2023. The training aimed at improving the quality of all UW journals. Dr Faiza Saleem, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Sciences was the Resource Person. She shed light on the importance of OJS and its operations in terms of research publication and review processes. Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean of Social Sciences, served as Convener for the training. The session was attended by all Editors/Associate Editors of UW Journals and ended on a note of thanks to the organizers and participants.

Participation in Conference on ‘Strategies for Cyber Intelligence’ 

Rawalpindi, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):Dr. Wazir Zada Khan, Dean Faculty of Computer Science was invited as a Guest Speaker in a conference on ‘Strategies for Cyber Intelligence’ organized by Center of Pakistan and International Relations’ (COPAIR), held on 17 February 2023. He delivered a talk on ‘Lethal Transformation of Traditional-Weapons into Digital-Weapons – In View of Advanced Persistent Threats through IoT’.

Workshop on “Skill Development for Marginalized Youth to Cope with 21st Century Challenges” 

Rawalpindi, January 16, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Education conducted a three-day training Workshop on “Skill Development for Marginalized Youth to Cope with 21st Century Challenges” in collaboration with US Mission in Pakistan and Pakistan-US Alumni Network (PUAN). Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities was the Chief Guest. Dr. Sajid Ali Yousafzai, Program Director and Dr. Ambreen Haqdad, Chairperson, Department of Education organized the training accompanied by many renowned resource persons from different universities. The Workshop covered 21st century learning, literacy, and life skills.

The experts also shared latest scenarios of freelancing platforms and entrepreneurship. In the end, the Chief Guest awarded shields and certificates to the resource persons and the participants.

Proud Moment for University of Wah

Wah Cantt, September 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms. Eman from Mashal Degree College has secured 2ndposition in Humanities group in FBISE Annual Examination 2022. She received her award in a Result Declaration Ceremony held by FBISE. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission presided the ceremony as Chief Guest.

Research Support to the Ministry of Education and Professional Training 

Wah Cantt, August 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Dr. Nadeem Omar Tarar, Gandhara Chair, University of Wah has provided his research support to the Single National Curriculum department of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training. In this regard, he has prepared a curriculum and wrote 5 booklets on the subject of Buddhism. When published, the name of the Gandhara Chair, University of Wah will be mentioned in the credits.
