Lahore, March 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Directorate of Media Publications organized an educational visit for students working at UW FM 101.8 Radio as “Program Host” to Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad, on 21 March 2023. PMD is a scientific and service division that works under the Cabinet Secretariat and is responsible for providing services in the areas of metrology, hydrology, earthquake seismology, and geomagnetism.
The purpose of the visit was to enlighten students about the operations of the National Weather Forecasting Center and help them to understand the real-life application and its importance. The students were given a briefing about the working of the center and their live studios. An interview was also recorded with Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Babar, Director, Pakistan Meteorological Department, by Ms. Sarah Khan, Director-DMP. The visit proved to be a useful and worthwhile experience for the students.
