Around 2000 candidates appear in University of Turbat’s Entrance Examinations

Turbat, January 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):A record number of around 2,000 candidates from different areas of Balochistan appeared in the entry test conducted by the University of Turbat for admission to various Graduate and Master Programs for the university’s spring session 2022. The entry test was conducted on the 8th and 9th of January for admission to 12 academic departments. The candidates included 40 percent female students.

Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Turbat, along with Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Ganguzar Baloch, UoT’s Registrar visited all entry test centers and appreciated the deans, head of teaching departments, admission cell and administrative staff of the university for conducting the test in an organized and systematic manner.

The Vice-Chancellor has said that it was very encouraging that such a large number of people from all over Balochistan were taking interest in getting admission to the university. This truly depicts the growing trust of the society in the University of Turbat for providing quality education to students all across the province. Moreover, around 500 applications have also been received for admissions in different academic programs of the University of Turbat’s Sub-Campus at Panjgur.

According to the admission cell of the University of Turbat, the admission process in the main campus will be completed with the next week, and classes for the Spring Session of 2022 will commence by the end of January 2022. The University has declared last Saturday and Sunday as working days for the admission test and also provided transportation facilities to all candidates in Turbat city and its adjacent areas.

ESP and University of Turbat Sports Event 

Turbat, January 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Elite Sports Pakistan Pvt Limited (ESP) and the University of Turbat (UoT) held an Inter-Faculty eSports Championship. The students, faculty, and sports administration participated and enjoyed the ESP-funded eSports event. In a daylong event, 16 teams from different departments took part in the event.

The students showed keen interest and enthusiasm in mobile sports. Mr. Akmal Khilji, Business Development Officer, ESP, and Director Sports Mr. Essa Karim along with his sports department team comprising Jameel Ahmed and ESP volunteers worked in close coordination to organize the event.

At the event closing ceremony, the chief guest Mr. Essa Karim and other officials distributed cash prizes worth rupees 15,000 among the winner, runner up and third position holders of the championship. Rehan Dad, Pazeer Ilyas, Changiz, and Meeran of the Computer science department won the championship, whereas Nasir Muneer, Sohail Dawood, Keenagi Nadeem, and Fahad Rasheed from the Law department secured runner up position. From the English department, Tanveer Ahmed, Saeedullah, Rehan Nazir, and Sajjad Ghafoor got third positions.

Akmal Khilji thanked the sports directorate and his entire team for the successful organization of the ESP-UOT Inter-Faculty eSports Championship and congratulated the teams and players accordingly. He also mentioned that ESP will soon launch its intervarsity events across Balochistan and would encourage students to keep on practicing and preparing for the upcoming eSports and other events.

University of Turbat and Jiangsu University agrees to sign cooperation agreement

Turbat, January 03, 2022 (PPI-OT): University of Turbat (UoT) and Jiangsu University (JSU) China agreed to sign a cooperation agreement. This consensus was made during an online meeting between the representatives of both universities held on 31st December 2021.

Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Pro VC UoT, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC UoT, Mr. Chaker Hyder, PSO to VC UoT, Prof. Gao Jing, Dean Overseas Education College, JSU, Dr. Wu Wenhao, Director of Admission Office, Overseas Education College, JSU and Ms. Hua Hue, Admission Officer, Overseas Education College, JSU attended the online meeting.

Besides enhancing collaboration in different fields, the collaborators also intend to engage in Belt and Road Initiative PhD faculty members and collaborative programs in the field of Engineering, Agronomy, Science, Medicine, Management, etc. for the interests and benefits of both institutions.

University of Turbat announces entry test schedule for admission in BS/MA/MSc programs

Turbat, January 03, 2022 (PPI-OT): University of Turbat has announced the schedule to conduct the entry test and interview for admission in BS, B.Ed. (Hons) and MA/MSc programs for the academic year 2022. The entrance test and interview for admission in the programs of 04 years B.Ed. (Hons) and 02 years MA (Education) will be conducted on 8th January, 2022 while the entrance test and interview for admission in rest of 04 years BS and 02 years MA/MSc programs in different disciplines will be conducted on 9th January, 2022 at 10:00am in the respective department, UoT’s main campus.

All candidates are directed to report to their respective department at 09:30am on given date along with their original CNIC/form-B and original educational documents. Classes will commence from 3rd week of January, 2022. Following COVID-19 SoPs including wearing face mask will be mandatory during entrance test. The date of entrance test for admission in M.Phil./MS program will be announced later. The entry test and interview for admission in UoT’s Panjgur Campus will be held in the first week of March, 2022. The admission in LLB (05) years program will subject to clearance of Law Admission Test (LAT) conducted by HEC. Honourable Governor Balochistan Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha Visits University of Turbat

Turbat, December 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):Honourable Governor Balochistan/ Chancellor University of Turbat (UoT), Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha visited the University of Turbat on 28th December 2021. He was accompanied by Provincial Ombudsman Nazar Muhammad Baloch, Principal Secretary to Governor, Abdul Nasir Dotani, and other senior officials. After his arrival at University, Governor Balochistan chaired a ceremony at video conference room.

Addressing the ceremony, the Honourable Governor, Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha has said that “It is pleasure for me to be here today among the highly talented and qualified faculty members of the University of Turbat. We need to honour and encourage our teachers so that they can transfer their knowledge and experience to the next generations.

I am happy to see that the University of Turbat has accomplished great achievements in a short period of time. Due to the tireless efforts of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad and his team, the University of Turbat have become an important, strong, and beautiful institution of higher learning in the province.”

He said that it was a matter of immense pleasure to see a large number of women in a backward area like Turbat are pursuing higher education in UoT. He hoped that our women would work alongside men to make Balochistan developed and prosperous. He added that “we were committed to providing better access to quality education for boys and girls alike.”

Addressing the faculty members and admin staff, Honourable Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha said that scholars, researchers, and faculty members were very important pillars of Balochistan who can play an important role in overcoming the challenges faced by Balochistan and bringing about development and prosperity in the province by utilizing their knowledge, insight, and wisdom. He said “This is the age of technology, skills, and quality education. Quality education not only strengthens an individual but it also strengthens the people as a nation.

Without acquiring education we can neither develop nor compete with the developed nations. Teachers have a great responsibility to utilize all their academic capabilities and wisdom to make the youth realize that only the education and educational institutions can lead us towards success and prosperity.”

Thanking the Vice-Chancellor, faculty and other distinguished guests, the Governor of Balochistan assured that he would continue to visit the University of Turbat in the future and would provide all possible support for the further development of varsity. In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jan Mohammad thanked the Governor of Balochistan for taking his precious time to visit the University of Turbat. He said that this region was very fertile in terms of education and talent.

The youth of the area were very keen on acquiring education. There is immense potential in the students of the University of Turbat to play an important role in achieving the goals of economic development and prosperity. VC underscored that the UoT has the potential to become a world-class institution of higher learning.

We desperately need the government’s patronage and attention to take UoT at par with the institutions of international standards. He said that we were working closely with various universities and research institutes of the world including USA, UK and China.

Meanwhile, a documentary film on the background and achievements of the University was also presented. Later, VC presented gifts of special shield, Balochi chadir, and painting to the Honorable Governor and other honourable guests. Besides planting a tree, Governor Balochistan also inaugurated gymnasium and computer labs equipped with modern facilities.

University of Turbat holds its 11th Syndicate Meeting 

Turbat, December 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Turbat’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad presided over the 11th meeting of Syndicate held at the video conference room on 29th December 2021. Addressing the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor shared the details of the key achievements of the university and said that besides conducting all university affairs in accordance with the University Act, we were committed to ensuring quality education accessible to the maximum number of the students of the region.

The Syndicate members appreciated the efforts of worthy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad and his team for accelerating the pace of development of the University and bringing innovative approaches and maximum use of technology in teaching and research activities of the university during his tenure.

The meeting resolved all the agenda items after thorough discussion and deliberation on each item. Besides resolving the recommendations of various meetings held previously, the house also discussed and settled various matters related to the formation of the Directorate of IT Services, appointment on disabled quota, the constitution of the rules, and regulation committee for formulating the remaining rules, and regulations of the university.
