Lahore, April 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Higher Education Commission has an initiative as “Rehnumai Markaz” for the students to help them to explore various opportunities like Admissions in Public Private Sector Universities, National and International Scholarships, Entrepreneurship, Career Counselling related information on a single platform i.e. Rehnumai Markaz website: https://rehnumai.punjab.gov.pk/

The website would guide students on number of areas including academic programs being offered by universities and information on admissions, scholarships, financial aids, career prospects and openings in various fields. It also provides tutorials on various soft-skills development, including, stress management, mental health and wellness.

with PHEC has also sensitized students about the Web Portal (rehnumai.punjab.gov.pk) that PHEC has established to facilitate students about higher education especially in following areas:

Programs and admissions in public and private sector universities.

Financial opportunities (Scholarships, Financial aids, Entrepreneurship loan etc.)

Employment opportunities in various fields.

Guidance and tutorial on Soft-Skills development, career counseling for students etc.

Admissions and Program:

Students can search the programs of their intertest offered by various Public and Private Universities/Colleges/HEI’s of Punjab. Rehnumai Markaz website assists the students with a list of Public Private Sector Universities of Punjab which are offering the desired program. On one click student can explore the direct information of concerned University regarding their admissions criteria, fee, scholarships and deadlines etc.

Entrepreneurship

In Entrepreneurship section, students are facilitated with the information related to loans and grants from public and private sector organizations from where students can opt for study loans when they don’t have the means to pay for their academic expenses. Once their education is completed, the loan can be repaid on an installment basis according to their income. Some organizations require them to pay a small amount during the study tenure e.g. NBP, Akhuwat Foundation, Kamyab Jawan etc.

Website also provide information on various opportunities and competitions by incubation/acceleration centers to facilitate new startups. Further, the lists of so many acclaimed organizations are present who provides the guidance on starting or scaling-up a small business for instance, SMEDA, Doing Business etc. Students can also get hands on updated information about freelancing platforms like e-Rozgaar etc.

Scholarships

Rehnumai Markaz furthers provides the updated information on various National and International available scholarships. Students can explore the opportunities and information and to apply for various scholarships beings offered by different organizations like HEC, PEEF, Ehsaas etc. Furthermore, list of various Public Private Sector Universities Scholarships is also available on RM website.

Career Counselling

Rehnumai Markaz promotes career counselling services for students across Punjab. Students can explore the various opportunities of job openings, career guide, improving soft skills resources and in this regard number of related videos demonstrations are available on RM portal.

Lahore, March 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):An MoU signing ceremony took place on March 22, 2022, between UCP and the Association of Bio-Risk Management (ABM) Pakistan where Dr. Nassar Ikram, Pro-Rector UCP, and Dr. Asgher Ali, Executive Director ABM chaired the event. It mainly entails an agreement to initiate activities on the protection of the research experimental setups and sustainability of the biomedical labs. Additionally, with direct relevance to the UCP’s drive of adapting UN-defined SDGs, this MoU imparts a special emphasis on the reduction of the environmental hazards being produced through labs in the form of residue and waste materials.

ABM is a registered organization working with the Universities and Livestock departments of KP, Punjab, and Baluchistan with the project title “Institutionalization of BRM best practice through enhancing Biological Laboratory Capabilities in Pakistan”. Under the project, the organization has supported Universities and livestock departments of the three provinces in staff capacity building programs on lab biosafety and security, developing of SOPs, lab biosafety guidelines, training manuals, provision of biosafety kits to lab staff and research scholars, essential lab equipment’s, glassware chemical and reagents.

The MOU will serve the purpose of strengthening the Institutional Bio-Risk Committee, conducting Bio-Risk management trainings of the associated researchers, adopting Bio-waste management standards, and joint ventures for research and management at the University premises.

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Central Punjab won the All Pakistan Bodybuilding Championship 2021-22 organised by University of Education under the supervision of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. More than 120 bodybuilders from all over the country participated in the championship, UCP won 5 Gold Medals and 5 Silver Medals along with the winning trophy.

Omer Naeem, final year student of BS English Literature won the title of Mr. Pakistan Universities. UCP Bodybuilding Team met the Pro Rector-UCP, Dr Nassar Ikram congratulates the team and wish all members good luck for the future events.

Lahore, March 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Central Punjab stood 2nd in the All Pakistan Inter University Cricket Championship 2021-22 organized by Hamdard University, Karachi under the supervision of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

16 Universities from all across Pakistan qualified for the final round, final match was played between University of Central Punjab and University of Sargodha. University of Sargodha won the final match and championship as well. Prof. Dr. Syed Shabib ul Hasan, Vice Chancellor Hamdard University, Karachi was chief guest of the closing ceremony who distributed cash prizes, medals and trophy to the winners.

Lahore, March 21, 2022 (PPI-OT): In collaboration with Phoenix Foundation for Research and Development, the Department of Psychology, University of Central Punjab organized a pre-conference workshop on ‘Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Substance Abuse” on 16th March 2022 in a board room building-A at UCP. The workshop was held as a part of the International Conference on Substance Use Disorders scheduled for 30th – 31st March, 2022.

 

The Guest Speaker was Dr Mirrat Gul, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Vice President Pact, Pakistan. The workshop aimed to establish participants’ orientation and insight into substance abuse disorders. Moreover, it focused majorly on understanding the appropriate and effective use of therapeutic techniques of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with substance abuse disorders. The interactive workshop proved to be beneficial for students and professionals.

Lahore, March 18, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Psychology department, University of Central Punjab Lahore, organized a Preconference Workshop on “Scale development with reference to drug addiction” at the University of Central Punjab on 7th March 2022. The workshop was co as part of the International Conference on Substance Use Disorders scheduled on 30th – 31st March, 2022.

 

The guest speaker was Prof Dr Syeda Shahida Batool, Professor currently serving at Government College University Lahore. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to the rigorous process and scale development steps used in drug addiction. The workshop proved equally beneficial for professionals and students interested in research on Drug addiction. In the end, Dr Shazia Hasan (HOD, Psychology Department) presented a shield and souvenir to the guest speaker. Certificates of Participation were also distributed among the participants.
