IIIE Organizes Seminar On “New Development Framework in The Light of Sustainable Development Goals” at Female Campus

Islamabad, March 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE), of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar titled “New Development Framework in light of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” at female campus in Auditorium of Fatima Block.

M. Ali Kemal, Chief of Sustainable Development Goals SDGs Section at Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives was Guest Speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasheed Director General (IIIE), IIUI also participated in the seminar while, Assistant Prof. Dr. Hajra Ihsan, In-Charge Department of Economics (Female Campus), IIIE was the focal person for the seminar.

During the seminar speakers highlighted the importance of SDGs and shed light on revised strategies to achieve SDGs targets by emphasizing upon sustainability, resilience, long term investments, systematic and participatory approach and grassroots level development. The seminar was attended by faculty members and a large number of female students of the International Institute of Islamic Economics.

Special Team Visits Banks, directs for Immediate Resolve of Issues 

Islamabad, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):As per guidelines of the worthy President International Islamic University (IIU), to ensure easy dues collection and flawless and ideal banking facilities at IIU, a team headed by Vice President Academics Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar visited the bank branches, booths and ATMs at the new campus. The team members included Dr. Rizwan Aftab Students Advisor, Mr. Ayaz Ali Addl. Director Finance and Al-Hassan Assistant Director Protocol and Public Relations. Keeping in view the hardship in submission of dues and inadequate arrangements for the facilitation, the team decided to extend the fee submission date till 3rd of March, 2023.

During the visit, after reviewing the situation in the banks and listening to the issues of the students, the team showed displeasure and grave concerns on the problems being faced by the students. The committee contacted the higher authorities of the banks and convened an urgent meeting with them in coming days to convey the serious concerns and deadlines to settle the issues for facilitation of the customers on campus. The committee conveyed to the banks that as per directions of the President IIUI, Application Programing Interface (API) based banking at IIUI must be commenced within three months.

After hearing complaints of the students on the specified branch submissions of due, it was directed that all the banks operating in IIUI must ensure that dues of the university must be submitted in all their branches instead of only on campus branch. The team also desired that an urgent meeting must be called with the banks’ officials to address the issues being faced by university employees. The students facing issues of submission of dues amid absences of adequate fee counters also complained of attitude issues of the staff in one of the banks, upon that head of the team Dr. Ayaz Afsar directed that no such happening should occur in future and any such behaviour with the students and employees shall not be tolerated. He said customer satisfaction and facilitation must be the top priority in these branches.

The team also visited the booths and ATMS where it noted that the services on the booth at the administration block and conditions of the ATM at the faculty blocks and old campus were not up to the mark. The concerned bank was conveyed to solve these issues at earliest.

IIU President Addresses Orientation Ceremony held for New Students

Islamabad, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University addressed an enthralled audience of newly admitted students on Tuesday in a welcome orientation ceremony at Faisal Masjid. The ceremony was organized by Directorates of Students Affairs (male and female) of the university.

In a maiden speech to the new students in presence of Vice President Academics, Students Advisors and relevant officials, the IIU President urged the students to adopt patience and consistency adding that these are the attributes that lead to success. He opined that same is the case with education as it needs immense hard work, dedicated learning and devotion.

“You are the future, take the responsibility and raise the lamp of knowledge, we will always be there to make your life a real success” Dr. Hathal said while discussing the importance of youth. “We are committed to provide all the logistic, learning and counselling support in all fields to our students, our mission is to prepare the generations for the future” said IIU President.

President said that love for the homeland is a necessary attribute that must be adopted by the youth. He also called upon the educational institutions to inculcate the passion and love for country in the minds of youth. Dr. Hathal also hailed the fervour and emotional attachment of Pakistani nation for homeland.

Talking about the Challenges of youth of Muslim world, Dr. Hathal said students must prepare themselves for future. Belief in one’s self and benefiting from the best learning opportunities at varsities is the way to deal with the contemporary challenges, said Dr. Hathal. He said “Magic Formula “for success is all about behaving in best manner according to the values of the educational institution. He told that the university is preparing a curriculum according to the latest changes and trends to make our place among the top universities of the world.

The IIU President highlighting the importance of virtual learning stressed upon the students to adopt online virtual free courses. IIU President urged the students to disseminate peace while reiterating the resolve of Islamic character building, disciplined conduct and peaceful atmosphere of learning will be ensured on campus. “I wish you a successful journey of education” he prayed at the end of his speech.

Earlier, Students Advisors Dr. Rizwan Aftab and Dr. Summiya Chughtai in the introductory remarks apprised of the vision, facilities and major events under Directorate of the Students Affairs and code of conduct. They told about the co-curricular, sports activities, fitness facilities, career counselling and recreation based activities. They told that university focuses on every aspect of providing elite resources of learning and university will soon have a separate library for the female students. Later, in the lucky draw, the IIU President distributed prizes among the male and female students.

Campus Management System inaugurated at IIUI

Islamabad, February 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Campus Management System (CMS) at International Islamic University (IIU) was inaugurated by President of the university Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi on Monday. In the light of the strategic plan and vision of IIUI’s President regarding digitization of the university, the campus management system after untiring work of months was inaugurated in the presence of university Vice Presidents, Deans, DGs, IT officials and team members of the CMS.

“Today is a historical day in the history of IIUI as I am happy to congratulate our community because university has achieved a major breakthrough towards digitization by launching Campus Management System. I appreciate efforts of team that worked untiringly for the success of this task” said Dr. Hathal by officially inaugurating the system in a ceremony held at new campus. He said that the new campus management system is a major component in the implementation of university’s strategic plan and reflects the high relevance IIUI attaches to international level teaching, learning and positive administrative reforms.

Earlier, Dean FET, Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh gave a detailed briefing about the CMS, its benefits, its present stage and its outcomes in future. He also gave a detailed overview of the roadmap of university’s strategic plan and elaborated the state of data that has already been incorporated in the system. He also apprised of the future strategy and utilization of this system to facilitate the students, teachers and administrative staff. The participants also hailed the CMS saying that it would pave way to academic excellence as it will help in transparent monitoring in pursuit of academic excellence and successful administrative reforms.

The IIUI President said that faculties and students can use the campus management system for application and enrolment, planning of studies and the semester, and for examination and other allied tasks. He added it shall also help in monitoring the trajectory of the administrative procedures and workflow of the officials. He informed that the campus management system will be made available in the form of a web-based interface.

While appreciating the efforts of the CMS team, IIUI President emphasized that their responsibility does not end here but their real work starts from here as they have to ensure adoption of the system. He urged the IIUI community to take the ownership and adopt the system by cooperating with the IT team. He said that this IT-based solution will facilitate a transparent, secure, enterprise-wide paperless system available to all administrators, academicians, students and research scholars as it interconnects all the major departments and institutes of the university.

Worthy President further said deadlines for each task of CMS must be met and each Vice president shall have close liaison with the committee of CMS. He said any documents, if needed for approval from statutory body, should be processed at the earliest.

Female Students from Khurram Agency College Visit IIUI 

Islamabad, February 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):In connection to the Resilience Drive for the Female Youth of Khurram Agency, a study tour of (40) female students and teachers under the lead of Ms. Henna Karamat, Director Planning of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) main campus on Monday.

Students group was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad khan, Director (Academics), IIUI in the Council Hall of Administration Block where he briefed the students about the university academic programs and vision of the President of the university during a comprehensive presentation. On this occasion Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Zafar Iqbal and Chairman Sociology, Dr. Akhlaq Ahmad was also present during the briefing session.

In his briefing, Dr. Muhammad Khan elaborated the core objectives and goals of the university with students. Director (Academics) particularly apprised the participants about the distinctions of Islamic University in different fields and widely contributions in the field of education, research and generally for society and nation building. He added that IIUI is one of the leading universities of the country which is producing highly qualified talented graduates duly integrated with the teachings of Islam.

Mentioning the young college female students who have never left their area, appreciated the tour organizers for this effort for enabling them to make an opportunity to get this study tour. He added that this study tour will help young students in getting exposure in terms of knowing available career choices and any courses or programs they want to adopt in the future here at International Islamic University.

Earlier, student’s delegation visited the central library of the university where officials briefed them about different sections of the library and online access system of books during a detailed briefing. In Female Campus, Directorate of Students Affairs, DSA welcomed the delegation where Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students Advisor (Female) and Dr. Sadia from the Sociology Department welcomed them and the delegation also visited the sports center and gymnasium of the female campus where In-Charge, Sports briefed them about extracurricular and sports activities of the campus students.

The objective of the visit was to inform the students about the available facilities for students at university as well as to broaden the concept of higher education in higher education institutions.

Committee takes decisions to strengthen mechanism of fee collection and smooth financial accessibility 

Islamabad, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):A meeting to review the mechanism of the fee collection, identification and suspension of the fee defaulters and to explore ways for smooth financial accessibility was held here at the council hall of the new of campus of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) that was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Vice President, Administration and Finance on Friday.

It was also attended by the Vice President Academics, Professor Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Director Academics, Director Finance, and Students’ Advisor female campus, members of the offices of admission, examination and IT including other relevant officials.

It was decided in the meeting that registration date for the students that has already been conveyed by the Director Academics shall be extended till March 3rd, 2023. It was also agreed by the house that Fee section shall prepare a list of the defaulters who have not paid fee that shall be displayed on university website and other relevant platform with a deadline of March 10.

The house decided that after 10th of March, all the defaulters present in the list shall be suspended. The chair also endorsed the suggestion of the house that no students shall be allowed on provisional basis to continue the semester without clearing the dues.

It was also decided that sponsoring agencies shall be conveyed to address the pending dues of the students of their panel so that their admission may be secured in future.

In order to further enhance the coordination and liaison between the departments and administration, it was decided that the coordinators shall be liable to report to the office of Director Academics. Earlier, Director Finance apprised the house on the status of collection of fee in previous semester and also informed about the ongoing development regarding the API-based banking for the smooth financial accessibility for the deposit of fee.

The house showed concerns on the complaints in the process of fee deposit and joining by agreeing to make students and parent’s facilitation a top priority in addition to looking for alternatives to ensure smooth banking. The chair reiterated the resolve that no stone must be left unturned to facilitate the students and parent in matters related to banking and fee deposit as well as he stressed adoption of strict policy to bar the defaulters to continue without clearing dues.
