Super Six Stage Set for U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024

Bloemfontein, The ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2024 gears up for its crucial Super Six stage starting 30 January, following the conclusion of the group stage on 28 January. Twelve teams remain in the running for the prestigious title, with the Super Six phase set to intensify the competition.

According to International Cricket Council, the Super Six will feature the top three teams from each of the four round-robin groups. Teams from Groups A and D form one group, while those from Groups B and C form another in this next phase of the tournament. Teams carry forward points and Net Run Rate (NRR) earned against fellow Super Six qualifiers.

India, Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal have progressed from Groups A and D. Meanwhile, South Africa, England, West Indies, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe have advanced from Groups B and C. The United States, Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland, who did not qualify for the second stage, will compete in play-offs for the last four positions.

In the Super Six format, teams will play two matches against opponents from the corresponding group who finished in a different position in their group. This setup leads to intriguing matchups such as India (toppers of Group A) facing New Zealand (second in Group D), and Nepal (third in Group D) against Bangladesh.

The top two sides from each of the Super Six groups will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for 6 and 8 February. The final is set for 11 February in Benoni, marking the culmination of this fiercely contested youth cricket tournament.

The Super Six fixtures commence on 30 January with India facing New Zealand in Bloemfontein, Sri Lanka against West Indies in Kimberley, and Pakistan versus Ireland in Potchefstroom. The stage promises to showcase the talents of the world’s best young cricketers, setting the scene for a thrilling finish to the U19 Men’s World Cup.
