Lahore, Siraj-ul-Haq, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has emphasized the need for accountability and a shift in governance, stating that those who should be held accountable are instead dreaming of ruling. He declared that the time of corrupt and wealthy groups is coming to an end, with the awakening of the conscious populace set to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections on February 8.
According to Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, in a meeting with delegations in Mansurah, Siraj-ul-Haq criticized the existing political structure, which he described as a monarchy of families, and called for the empowerment of the people. He expressed concern over the lack of internal democracy within parties and their apparent indifference towards establishing a stable democratic system in the country.
Siraj-ul-Haq highlighted that Jamaat-e-Islami has already presented a revolutionary manifesto aimed at transforming Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state. He assured that upon gaining power, his party would ensure the implementation of this manifesto. He criticized the hereditary and feudal systems being perpetuated through the parliament and called for a ban on the display of wealth in election campaigns. He emphasized that democracy’s strengthening is crucial for the country’s advancement, peace, and prosperity.
The Amir also pointed out the hypocrisy of those who previously burdened the populace with high electricity costs and are now promising free electricity. He condemned the heavy financial burdens placed on consumers due to increased electricity and gas prices, criticizing previous governments for their reliance on Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which he claims have placed an unbearable strain on the national exchequer.
Further, Siraj-ul-Haq lamented the hardships faced by the common man under previous administrations, citing rampant inflation and unemployment. He noted the lack of access to basic amenities for a significant portion of the population, highlighting the issue of out-of-school children and frustrated youth leaving the country.
Looking ahead, Siraj-ul-Haq outlined Jamaat-e-Islami’s plans for governance, including providing free electricity up to 350 units, offering employment allowances, redistributing government lands, introducing interest-free microfinance, and ensuring the protection of women’s rights. He pledged to divert state resources towards the common man, end VIP culture, establish equal laws for all, and implement free accountability. Under the rule of Jamaat-e-Islami, decisions in courts will be based on the Qur’an, and an Islamic system will be implemented. He urged the people to support Jamaat-e-Islami’s candidates in the upcoming elections.
