Islamabad, In a significant gesture of international brotherhood and religious solidarity, the Saudi Embassy has commenced the “Programme of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for Iftar” in Pakistan. The program officially began with an iftar event at the King Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, drawing attendance from Saudi embassy officials, directors of Saudi offices, the President of International Islamic University (IIU), H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, other university officials, and thousands of the faithful from the twin cities.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, this initiative marks the start of a series of daily iftar programs to be held across Pakistan throughout the holy month of Ramadan. This endeavor is part of a broader tradition by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which orchestrates similar Ramadan iftar events globally through its embassies and attachés.
The program’s launch event at the Faisal Mosque, one of Islamabad’s most revered religious landmarks, was highly praised by attendees. Participants expressed gratitude towards the Saudi government for its act of kindness and the spirit of brotherhood extended towards the Pakistani community. Following the iftar, officials from the Saudi Embassy, IIUI, and guests collectively performed the Maghrib prayer at the mosque premises.
This annual iftar program, orchestrated by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of Saudi Arabia and represented locally by the religious attaché through the Kingdom’s Embassy, has become a cherished tradition. It not only fosters a sense of community among Muslims but also strengthens the ties of friendship and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
