First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari Urges Immediate Attention to Breast Cancer

Islamabad: First Lady of Pakistan, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, has made a compelling call for women nationwide to prioritize their health by focusing on breast cancer awareness and prevention. As Breast Cancer Awareness Month commences, she highlighted the urgency of addressing the disease, which remains the most prevalent cancer affecting women in Pakistan, threatening one in every nine women during their lifetime.

The First Lady emphasized the crucial role of early detection in saving lives, noting that timely diagnosis and treatment can boost survival rates to 90 percent. To achieve this, she urged women to perform regular self-examinations, seek clinical assessments after the age of thirty, and consider mammograms post-forty. Immediate medical consultation was advised if any abnormalities are detected.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also stressed the significance of a healthy lifestyle in mitigating risks. She acknowledged the ongoing efforts of various organizations, healthcare professionals, and community groups dedicated to raising awareness and supporting affected women, advocating for their commendable work to be recognized.

Highlighting the necessity of collective action, she called upon families, communities, and society to support women in accessing prompt medical attention. “Saving even one mother, sister, or daughter through awareness and treatment equates to preserving generations,” she remarked.
