Russian Ambassador Opens Upgraded Classroom at Punjab University

Lahore, The Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, inaugurated renovated classrooms dedicated to the teaching and promotion of the Russian language at Punjab University. The event signals a step forward in cultural and educational ties between Pakistan and Russia.

According to University of the Punjab, the ceremony was hosted by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood and attended by prominent members of the Russian delegation, including Mr. Ruslan M. Prokhorove, Head of Russian House in Pakistan. Faculty members from Punjab University, including Principal Oriental College Prof Dr. Nabila Rehman and Dr. Ekaterina Gavrishchuk, an Assistant Professor of Russian Language, were present to mark the occasion.

Ambassador Khorev highlighted the flourishing economic relationship between Russia and Pakistan, noting the trade volume exceeding $1 billion for the first time. He emphasized the importance of Lahore and Punjab University in fostering Pakistan-Russia relations and stated that Russian language centers are also operational in Karachi and Sargodha. Khorev expressed his support for comparative literary analysis to deepen mutual cultural understanding and commended Punjab University’s efforts in promoting the Russian language.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mehmood echoed the sentiment, expressing the university’s desire to enhance academic collaboration with Russian universities. He mentioned recent exchanges with the People’s Friendship University in Moscow and committed to further cooperation at all levels to strengthen Pakistan-Russia relations.
