Islamabad: Around a quarter of the Members of the National Assembly (MNA) did not attend any of the three sittings during the National Assembly’s 19th session, according to a report released by the Free and Fair Election Network. The session, which took place from September 1 to September 5, 2025, saw significant absenteeism, with 82 MNAs missing all meetings.
The report highlights that 111 MNAs, or 34 percent, attended all sittings during the session. The second sitting recorded the highest attendance with 200 MNAs, equating to 61 percent of the current membership. Conversely, the third sitting saw the lowest turnout, with only 159 MNAs, or 49 percent, present.
A total of 216 MNAs, accounting for 66 percent of the assembly, were absent at least once during the session. Among these, 50 MNAs, or 23 percent, submitted applications for leave of absence. However, 166 MNAs, or 77 percent, skipped the proceedings without any formal leave application.
In terms of cabinet attendance, four federal ministers and one state minister were present at all sittings. Notably, the Prime Minister did not attend any sittings, and the office of the Leader of the Opposition remained vacant during the session.
