IIUI Triumphs Over Dunya News in Friendly T20 Cricket Match

ISLAMABAD: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) team emerged victorious in a friendly T20 cricket match against Dunya News, chasing down a target of 148 runs with two wickets down and four overs to spare at the IIUI Sports Ground. The match, organized by the university's Office of Protocol and Public Relations and the Directorate of Students' Affairs, aimed to foster camaraderie between the academic and media communities.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the Dunya News team was led by anchorperson Samar Abbas, while Muhammad Nauman, Deputy Director Protocol and Public Relations, captained the IIUI side. Imdad Ullah was a standout performer, remaining not out with 101 runs off 42 balls and claiming four wickets, earning him the man-of-the-match accolade. Both teams were commended for their sportsmanship throughout the event.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashid, Vice President (Administration and Finance), served as the chief guest and presented trophies to the winners, runners-up, and the man-of-the-match. He praised the event as a constructive opportunity for interaction between academia and the media and lauded the efforts of the university's organizing team, including Ch. Khalid, Mr. Altaf Burki, and Team IIUI coach Muhammad Naseer.

Dr. Asma Mansoor, Incharge Protocol and Public Relations and chief organizer, highlighted the match as a symbol of the strong relationship between IIUI and the media. She expressed the university's commitment to encouraging young people to engage in outdoor activities and extended gratitude to Dunya News and Samar Abbas for their participation.

Dr. Hafiz Ghufran, Director Students' Affairs and overall supervisor, commended the enthusiasm of both teams and expressed intentions for future matches with media teams. The event concluded with handshakes, photographs, and an invitation for a return fixture, marking a successful day of fostering ties between the two sectors.
