Punjab University Embarks on Digital Transformation to Enhance Education

LAHORE: Punjab University is set to undergo a significant digital transformation aimed at ensuring quality education, according to Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali. Speaking at a meeting regarding the second phase of the Campus Management System for the fall 2025 semester, Dr. Ali emphasized the need for modernizing educational practices and adapting to new technologies.

The meeting, which included Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Registrar Dr. Ahmed Islam, DG IT Prof Dr Muhammad Murtaza Yousaf, as well as department heads, faculty members, and IT experts, highlighted the importance of digitalization in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Ali underscored the necessity for teachers to embrace modern technologies to enhance the teaching process at the university.

Dr. Muhammad Murtaza Yousaf, Director General of IT, elaborated on the Campus Management System, stating that it will be instrumental in securing comprehensive student data. The system is designed to manage all aspects of a student’s academic journey, from admission to graduation, including hostel arrangements and alumni records.

Additionally, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system will be utilized to manage student records efficiently. Each department will have streamlined access to student data, allowing faculty members to manage classes and results more effectively.

This initiative marks a pivotal step in the university’s efforts to work collaboratively towards its development, ensuring that both students and faculty benefit from enhanced educational tools and systems.
