Kazakhstan Ambassador Engages With IIUI President on Academic Ties and Interfaith Dialogue

Islamabad: The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, met with the President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, to explore potential academic collaborations and promote interfaith harmony. The discussion took place on Wednesday at the university’s new campus.

The meeting highlighted the mutual interest in strengthening ties between IIUI and Kazakh higher education institutions. The ambassador pointed to significant opportunities for cooperation, especially in Islamic studies, law, and research.

Ambassador Kistafin extended an invitation to Prof. Dr. Alahmed to attend the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, Kazakhstan. This gesture was welcomed by the IIUI President, who expressed a strong interest in the event. He noted that IIUI has been an active member of the Congress’ Secretariat since 2008 and has consistently contributed to global interfaith dialogue.

Prof. Dr. Alahmed reiterated IIUI’s dedication to fostering dialogue among civilizations and emphasized the university’s desire to strengthen its connections with Kazakh institutions.

The meeting also included the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute, and Dean of the Faculty of Shariah and Law. Both parties underscored the importance of continuous dialogue and agreed to explore further collaborations in academic, cultural, and research areas.
