Punjab University Celebrates Calligraphy as a Powerful Medium of Communication

Lahore: At a recent ceremony held at Punjab University, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood extolled calligraphy as a profound method of communication, more impactful than words alone. The event, which featured a calligraphy competition and exhibition themed ‘Names of the Prophet (PBUH),’ was organized in collaboration with the Rehmatul-Lil-Aalameen Authority Islamabad and Ashraf Al Qalam.

According to University of the Punjab, the ceremony drew participation from esteemed guests including Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi, Director of Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center Prof Dr Muhammad Abdullah, and Rehmatul-Lil-Aalameen Authority’s Focal Person Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed Gondal, among others. Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood highlighted the significance of such events in promoting the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and noted the positive trend of increasing female participation in the field of calligraphy.

The event also served as a platform for renowned calligrapher Ashraf Heera to discuss the history and global recognition of Pakistani calligraphers, including their contributions to the Masjid Nabawi. Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed Gondal praised the organizers for their efforts in boosting morale and providing inspiration to young artists and students. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of shields and certificates of appreciation to the outstanding calligraphers present.
