Lahore, 12 Oct 2023: A significant advancement in language education has been marked by the Punjab University Institute of Languages and Linguistics (IoLL) and the Pak Japan Socioeconomic Association (PJSA), following the inking of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering the teaching of the Japanese language. As detailed in a press release by the University of the Punjab, the MoU was signed by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood and PJSA President Ms Sitara Arif in a ceremony at the VC’s office on Thursday. The partnership stipulates the launch of diploma and certificate courses in the Japanese language, addressing the language’s importance for both students and professionals in Pakistan.
Attended by Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Moeen Nizami, Director IoLL Prof Dr Moqeet Javed Bhatti, and the complete faculty of the Institute, the ceremony symbolized a collaborative step towards expanding linguistic and cultural understanding between Pakistan and Japan. This MoU seeks to amplify efforts to integrate Japanese language learning into the academic realm, recognizing the linguistic competencies required in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world.
PU VC Dr Khalid Mahmood, speaking at the event, underscored the pivotal role of the Japanese language for students and professionals across Pakistan, directing the Institute to promptly launch diploma and certificate courses, which are to be facilitated with the technical assistance of the PJSA. The initiative, emerging from this collaboration between academic and socio-economic entities, manifests a keen approach towards enhancing multicultural communications and competencies amidst the global landscape, providing students and professionals with an enriched educational pathway and fostering deeper socio-economic ties between Pakistan and Japan.
