PCB Management Committee Reviews Milestones and Chairman Zaka Ashraf Resigns

Lahore, The fourth meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Management Committee (MC), chaired by Mr. Zaka Ashraf, was held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The meeting focused on reviewing significant achievements of the PCB and included an unexpected announcement of resignation by the Chairman.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the meeting was attended by ten members, with Mr. Khurram Karim Somroo joining online. They discussed various PCB affairs and financial matters, including a presentation by the CFO on management accounts and financial projections.

During the meeting, Chairman MC Mr. Zaka Ashraf highlighted several key milestones achieved under the current committee’s tenure, which began in early July. Notable achievements include a 100% increase in Pakistan’s share of ICC Revenue, record offers for media and live-streaming rights of the HBL Pakistan Super League, Pakistan regaining the No.1 ODI spot in ICC rankings, and successfully hosting the Asia Cup after 15 years. Other achievements included the BCCI delegation’s first visit to Pakistan since 2008, Pakistan Shaheens winning the Emerging Asia Cup, and the Pakistan women’s cricket team achieving historic wins.

Additionally, the PCB initiated various development and strategic alliances, including a Service Level Agreement with DineticQ, a MoU with Middlesex County Cricket Club, and an understanding with Cricket Australia for player development and junior cricket programs.

However, the meeting took an unexpected turn when Mr. Zaka Ashraf announced his resignation as chairman and member of the MC, citing current circumstances. He tendered his resignation to the honourable patron Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. In his farewell remarks, Mr. Ashraf extended his best wishes for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

The members of the management committee unanimously requested Mr. Ashraf to reconsider his decision, highlighting his significant contributions to the PCB. Despite their appeals, Mr. Ashraf politely declined to withdraw his resignation. The management committee and PCB staff expressed their gratitude for his leadership and commitment to cricket in Pakistan.
