Pasban Democratic Party Urges for Realization of Safe City Program in Karachi

Karachi, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, Altaf Shakoor, has called for the urgent implementation of the Safe City program in Karachi, emphasizing the need for modern technology in policing and security. He criticized the Sindh bureaucracy for resisting technological advancements, which he believes is essential for improving the city’s law enforcement and emergency response systems.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor expressed concerns over the current state of security in Karachi, highlighting the necessity of artificial intelligence and advanced surveillance to address issues like traffic and encroachments. He pointed out that the Sindh Safe Cities Authority and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) need to expedite the implementation of the Safe City project. Shakoor also emphasized the importance of freeing local police from political interference, noting that many police officers in Sindh are appointed based on political affiliations rather than merit.

The PDP Chairman also brought attention to a recent incident involving DSP Umeer Bajari, who was allegedly caught in a criminal act. Shakoor called for an investigation into Bajari’s appointment, suggesting political involvement in the recruitment process. He demanded that officers recruited on political grounds be dismissed and those responsible for such appointments be held accountable.

Shakoor stressed that lawlessness in Karachi is a national security issue, as the city is pivotal to Pakistan’s economy. He proposed that the Rangers in Karachi should develop an artificial intelligence-based security monitoring system to support the police and local administration.

The call for the Safe City program’s realization reflects a broader concern for the safety and well-being of Karachi’s citizens and the need for modernized law enforcement methods to ensure the city’s stability and prosperity.
