Rawalpindi, In a significant move ahead of the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, high-level representatives from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Tehreek Nafeaz Fiqh Jafaria (TNFJ) convened for a crucial meeting at the Maktab Shia headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the PPP delegation, led by Secretary General Syed Nayar Hussain Bukhari, included National and Provincial Assembly candidates such as Amir Fida Paracha, Raja Imran Ashraf, and others. The TNFJ was represented by Chairman of the Political Cell Zulfikar Ali Raja, Secretary General Allama Basharat Hussain Emami, and various other members.
The meeting was marked by mutual respect and a commitment to continue discussions for political reconciliation. Bukhari paid homage to Quaid Millat Jafaria Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Mousavi for his national services and steadfast resistance against dictatorship, highlighting Mousavi as a strong proponent of fundamental rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Pakistan.
Allama Bisharat Emami of TNFJ emphasized the organization’s focus on national interest and its history of abstaining from electoral politics in the name of religion. He praised Mousavi for guiding millions of Shia voters with a dignified election policy. Zulfiqar Raja, Chairman of the TNFJ Political Cell, stated that their election policy aims to uphold principles that counter communal hatreds.
Allama Syed Qamar Haider Zaidi recounted an anecdote about Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s visit to Mr. Mousavi’s Astana, admiring Mousavi’s understanding and insight. Shaukat Abbas Jafari of TNFJ expressed gratitude to the PPP delegation and noted TNFJ’s role in protecting Pakistan’s basic ideology and leading successful agitation against the Zia dictatorship.
The delegations agreed to maintain contact even after the elections, signaling ongoing collaboration between the two parties. The meeting concluded with prayers for the safety and success of Pakistan’s soldiers and the Islamic world.
