Over 60 reputable companies conduct on-spot interviews during the “Mega Job Fair 2022”

Lahore, March 21, 2022 (PPI-OT): Realizing the competitive job market for the recently graduated students, the Department of Career Services and Corporate Linkages (CSCL), under the supervision of Dr. Maryam Iqbal Kiani (Director, Executive Development Centre and CSCL) successfully organized a “Mega Job Fair 2022” at the Defence Road Campus on February 23, 2022.

The event brought over 60 organizations consisting of renowned consultancies, local and foreign institutes, corporate firms including Shahzad Textile Mills Limited, KryptoMind, Service Industries Limited, PureLogics, McDonald’s, Abacus Global, Finz Games, i2c Inc and many more under one roof that set up their 64 recruitment stalls.

Thousands of attendees including fresh graduates, alumni, academicians of UOL and students across Lahore thronged the event, networked and exchanged their data with the recruiters. The HR representatives at the recruiting booths conducted on-spot interviews of the candidates and counselled them regarding their career choices and job market requirements.

Mr. Khayal Ahmad Kastro (Punjab Minister for Culture and Colonies) along with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector, UOL), Mr. Nasir Mehmood (Pro-Rector, Academics) and Dr. Kiani inaugurated the career fair. The Minister visited all the corporate stalls and lauded the UOL’s efforts of providing job opportunities at the doorsteps. Acknowledging the initiative, he maintained that such events should be organized by all public and private sector universities. On the occasion, Dr. Ashraf also presented honorary shield to Mr. Kastro.

Expressing their views regarding the event, some of the students said that the “Mega Job Fair 2022” was a thrilling opportunity to connect them with the firms of their choice. They added that the event had brought them opportunities to learn from the exposure and helped them in polishing up their skills that are needed for securing jobs in a competitive environment.

The closing ceremony was held later in the evening in which Mr. Kastro, Mr. Syed Hammad Mustafa (Director HR and TLD, McDonald’s) and Mr. Faisal Kastro (Special Advisor to Minister of Culture) graced the event as chief guests. Dr. Kiani presented a welcoming note and said that the job fair event is a great opportunity for networking with organizations and market leaders and it also narrows down the gap between the industry and the academia.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mustafa said, “McDonald’s is a leading food brand which is continuously growing and expanding. Today, we are pleased to be the part of something futuristic and promising where we are able to connect with a variety of organizations specialized in different fields.”

Mr. Faisal highlighted education as a prerequisite for the development of the country. He said, “As a businessman, I believe we are bringing a huge amount of money to the country which we are getting from exporting goods for our better future. Likewise, as a special advisor, I believe in setting up policies for every industry focusing on a better future and this is not possible without the active involvement of our educational institutes.” During the closure, certificates were distributed among the representatives of the organizations followed by an executive dinner and Sufi Night.
