Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to unveil a new pavilion at the National Bank Stadium today, marking a pivotal moment in the venue’s history. This development underscores the PCB’s dedication to improving cricket infrastructure within the country.
According to a statement by Pakistan Cricket Board, the newly-constructed pavilion at the University Road End incorporates modern dressing rooms for players and officials, alongside hospitality rooms. Built in approximately four months, the pavilion’s swift completion highlights the efficiency of the renovation process.
Beyond the pavilion, the stadium has undergone several upgrades aimed at enhancing the playing and viewing experience. These improvements include 350 LED lights to boost broadcast quality, two digital replay screens, and over 5,000 new seats for spectators.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi played a hands-on role in overseeing the renovations, frequently visiting the site to ensure the project stayed on schedule. Nearly 5,000 workers contributed to the stadium’s transformation, preparing it for upcoming events such as the tri-series and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
“This upgrade is a testament to our vision of elevating Pakistan’s cricketing venues to international standards,” said Naqvi. He praised the workforce for their dedication and announced plans to host a reception for them at the stadium.
The National Bank Stadium, renowned for its thrilling matches, is expected to continue nurturing local cricket talent. The PCB is also encouraging families to attend matches, hoping to inspire future generations of cricketers.
This renovation is part of the PCB’s broader effort to modernize cricket facilities across Pakistan, ensuring the country remains a key destination for international cricket.
