President Asif Ali Zardari Meets President of Portugal in Lisbon

Lisbon: President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Mr Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Palácio Nacional de Belém today.

According to a statement by Pakistan Peoples Party, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa welcomed President Asif Ali Zardari at the Palace. The leaders exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance, emphasizing the need to deepen cooperation in various fields.

President Zardari expressed that Pakistan values its ties with Portugal, highlighting the cordial bilateral relations between the two nations. The discussions included enhancing cooperation and promoting cultural and people-to-people relations.

Moreover, President Zardari extended an invitation to President Rebelo de Sousa to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time. He noted that such a visit would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and open new avenues for collaboration.

This meeting comes as 2025 marks 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Portugal. Both countries have maintained cordial bilateral relations throughout this period.
