Sargodha: The University of Sargodha has launched a Precision Agriculture and Farm Machinery Training Centre aimed at equipping students and researchers with skills in smart farming technologies. The initiative seeks to foster agricultural research and innovation through a collaboration with China's Hainan Shunxiang Technology Development Co Ltd and Pak Agro Fertilizer and Chemical Industries, with the centre inaugurated by Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan.

According to University of Sargodha, the centre's establishment was facilitated by a tripartite Intent of Cooperation. The Chinese company is set to provide technical resources and necessary equipment, while the university will focus on research and innovation. Pak Agro Fertilizer and Chemical Industries will play a role in conducting field trials and practical demonstrations of smart agriculture technologies, covering both citrus and non-citrus crops.

The centre aims to offer practical training in areas such as smart farm machinery, precision seeding, intelligent plant protection, precision fertilization, and smart irrigation. University officials emphasized the centre's significance in advancing Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation and introducing modern farming technologies. The inauguration was attended by various stakeholders, including Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan and Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, alongside representatives from the Chinese company and the agricultural community.
