Islamabad: The newly appointed Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr. During the meeting, President Zardari expressed confidence in Khan’s ability to strengthen Pakistan’s relationship with the UAE, which he described as a cornerstone of the nation’s foreign policy.
President Zardari congratulated Khan on his assignment and praised his diplomatic experience, expressing hope that the ambassador-designate would enhance relations with the UAE. He emphasized the importance of the historic ties between the two countries, highlighting shared cultural and religious bonds.
Zardari pointed out that the UAE is a significant trading partner for Pakistan, with investments spanning energy, infrastructure, minerals, and IT sectors. He noted that these investments could further boost cooperative efforts between the nations.
The President also acknowledged the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, one of the largest expatriate communities, which serves as an economic asset and a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
Furthermore, Zardari appreciated the UAE’s support for Pakistan and its efforts in promoting regional peace and stability. He expressed his confidence in Khan’s commitment to taking the bilateral relationship to new heights.
