Karachi, The highly anticipated Super Eight stage of the National T20 Cup 2023-24 is set to commence tomorrow, marking a crucial phase in the tournament. The matches will be held from December 1 to 8 across three venues in Karachi: National Bank Stadium, UBL Sports Complex, and NBP Sports Complex.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the eight teams that have advanced from the group stage will compete in a round-robin format, with each team playing seven games. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for December 9 at the National Bank Stadium. The final will also take place at the same venue on December 10.
In an exciting announcement for cricket fans, the Pakistan Cricket Board has declared free entry for spectators for the matches scheduled at National Bank Stadium. Fans will have access to the Hanif Mohammad, Javed Miandad, and Fazal Mahmood enclosures.
The teams that have qualified for the Super Eight include Peshawar and Lahore Whites from Group A, Lahore Blues and Karachi Whites from Group B, Rawalpindi and Abbottabad from Group C, and Sialkot and FATA from Group D.
Ahmed Shehzad of Lahore Whites has been the leading run-scorer of the tournament so far, with a remarkable 213 runs from three matches, including three consecutive half-centuries. Zeeshan Malik of Rawalpindi and Sahibzada Farhan of Peshawar are the tournament’s centurions to date.
In the bowling department, Islamabad’s Umair Afridi, despite his team not qualifying for the Super Eight, leads with 12 wickets in four matches. Among the qualifying teams, Karachi Whites’ Arif Yaqoob and Sohail Khan have been standouts, with Yaqoob taking nine wickets and Khan achieving the best bowling figures of 5-10 against Hyderabad.
In the fielding arena, Hyderabad’s Akbar Khan leads as the most successful wicket-keeper, while Karachi Whites’ Asad Shafiq has excelled as a fielder with six catches.
The Super Eight stage promises four matches each day, except for December 5. Broadcast and live-streaming details have been provided for fans in Pakistan and overseas, ensuring wide coverage of the tournament.
