MUET Jamshoro Hosts Arduino Days 2024, Showcasing Local Talent

Jamshoro, The Department of Electronic Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) marked a significant achievement by hosting Arduino Days 2024 from March 21st to 23rd. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai, the event spotlighted the innovative talents of students in areas such as robotics, automation, and agriculture through Arduino-based projects. With 263 local community events approved globally by the Arduino platform, MUET’s participation stood out as Pakistan’s sole representation.

According to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the event drew notable guests including Engr Hashim Hussain and Engr Haris from the Civil Aviation Training Institute Hyderabad, alongside a panel of esteemed judges. The student projects received widespread acclaim from faculty and peers for their creativity and technical prowess.

The initiative also featured a talk by Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai, titled “From Classroom to Career: Harnessing Arduino for practical learning,” where she emphasized the real-world applications of Arduino technology and highlighted successful Pakistani startups. Notably, a project mentored by Dr. Baqai was featured in the official Arduino Day celebrations livestream, underlining MUET’s contribution to technological innovation.

The event culminated in the distribution of awards for the best projects, with a smart water quality checking system, a solar tracking system, and a gesture-controlled robot taking the top prizes. Dean FEECE, Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Unar, praised the students’ ingenuity and encouraged continued innovation.

The successful hosting of Arduino Days 2024 at MUET not only celebrated the ingenuity of its students but also reinforced the institution’s commitment to fostering practical learning and innovation in engineering and technology.
