Rawalakot, Jamia Poonch in Rawalakot recently became the stage for an inter-faculty competition celebrating the beauty of recitation and naat, where students from various departments showcased their talents to an enthusiastic audience. The event, organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, highlighted the skills and dedication of the participants, with Kashan, Inam, and Behzad securing first positions in their respective categories.
According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, the competition saw Muhammad Sultan Iqbal from the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and Hafiz Talha Shehzad from the Department of Computer Sciences winning second and third positions in recitation, respectively. Meanwhile, in the naat category, Behzad Ali from the Faculty of Agriculture claimed the top spot, with Irshad Ahmed and Kashif Ali from the Faculties of Basic Sciences and Veterinary and Animal Sciences, respectively, also performing exceptionally.
The event was well-received, with the audience applauding the mesmerizing performances that filled the venue. Prizes were distributed by Dr. Abdul Rauf, the university’s registrar, in a ceremony that also featured speeches by notable figures such as Chief Justice Farooq Sabir and Director of Student Affairs Dr. Zabir Abbasi, among others. They shared insights on the significance of fasting and the importance of supporting those in need, especially in the context of Ramadan, the holy month during which the competition was held.
The panel of judges for the competition included distinguished individuals such as Farooq Hussain Sabir, a renowned Naat-e-Khaan, poet, and political and social leader, as well as Dr. Abdul Rahman, chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies, and Maulana Muhammad Kaleem, Khatib of Jamia Masjid Poonch University.
This event was part of a series of activities aimed at enhancing students’ skills and creating lasting memories.
